It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
Thank you to Sheila for hosting this meme, which always adds books to my TBR wishlist!

Well this has been a very busy week for me - and yes I have been on holiday, doing holiday appointments like the optometrist and dentist.  I also bought a sewing machine after much deliberation, another step towards learning to quilt. First I have to learn how to use the machine!  It's still in its box.

This weekend my large extended family gathered in town as on Saturday we had a blessing of a memorial stone for my mum who died last year.  It was wet and miserable, but even two of her great grand children turned up in arms or carry cot.  We prayed and then removed the cover - which a grandson and great grandson did.

On the Sunday, we celebrated my Dad's 90th birthday, at present he still lives in his own home, enjoys listening to music, painting and reading.

Ten in my family - one hidden behind Dad and one great grandchild there with her grandmother.  My youngest sister is there behind Dad, I am the one kneeling on the floor - the oldest!  We had a great day.

Reading in the last week:
Written in My Own Heart's Blood
Loved it!
Moon Called Patricia Briggs
Still in two minds.
Reluctantly liked it!

Then Came You
My favourite series by Jill Shalvis

Return to Homecoming Ranch. Julia London
Liked this one too.
In Her Dreams
Novella that I won on Armchair BEA
It was quite melodramatic in my opinion!
A Man To Hold On To. Marilyn Pappano
My listening book.
Enjoyed it too.

I am presently reading:
The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen.  I won this on Goodreads, I have seen some great reviews from those I follow, and some poor ones from people I don't. I am therefore expecting to enjoy it!  It's the beginning of a new fantasy series.
Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews. This one is my audiobook - generally takes me awhile to get through one.

Up next:
Swan Point by Sherryl Woods

Hope you all have enjoyed your books and are ready for more!

  1. Happy birthday to your dad! Looks like quite a family gathering and I'm glad so many could be there.

I hope you like The Queen of the Tearling. I am curious about that one. I've heard that Emma Watson is going to be starring in the movie. I will have to check out the Jill Shalvis book. I've read a couple of hers that I liked.

Enjoy your books. I've read a few of the Mercy Thompson series but have stopped reading them for awhile. The others I haven't read yet, but they look good.

  10. If I had my pick, would pick A Man To Hold On To by Pappano. I'm familiar with her romances. Love your family photos. Your mother's stone is lovely. It doesn't make me feel sad. I'll bet it makes you feel at peace too.

  12. It's amazing your dad still lives on his own! I hope that seeing all the family together made up for the sadness over your mother. I've got 'The Queen of Tearling' waiting for me as well, can't wait to get started! Thanks for sharing :)
