Coming up for this week:

Friday 6th is our national holiday - Waitangi Day - so I am doing a giveaway for a book of choice by a New Zealand author.  One for International readers and one for New Zealanders. I know most of you will not have an author in mind, but I will include places where to look.  Will go from 5th Feb to 10th Feb. Will just be a simple entry.

    1. I know Deb. I looked and looked at that cover when it was on NetGalley but never requested it. Glad I didn't because the audio was great.

  4. I'm glad you thought he Nightingale was amazing. I'm reading it this week. I'm sure it'll be a tearjerker.
Cool giveaway - I've never read a New Zealender book before. What does Waitangi mean?

    1. Adriana Waitangi is the name of a place where a treaty was signed between British crown and local maori indigenous people. Wai means water and tangi is grieving, it is actually a very beautiful spot but maybe it was a place of grieving in the past - not so sure of that, just a guess.

  7. So many good books, I adored Looking For Me on audio, love Beth Hoffman, she's a sweetheart! Looking forward to your review of Ten Tiny Breaths and of course The Nightingale, you know how much I loved it. And I'm wondering whether I can squeeze The Secrets of Midwives in anytime soon.

Can't wait to see what NZ authors you suggest ... Nalini Singh, Eleanor Catton are the first that spring to my mind. Love Juliet Marillier too, we do claim her as Aussie as well lol

Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. Eleanor Catton yes but I failed on her book The Luminaries and it became a DNF, went round and round and I got very muddled. Juliet Marillier I must look up. I think if a person resides and publishes in Australia then I say - Australian!

    2. I haven't read The Luminaries but it was on my wishlist and then it got such mixed reviews it fell off my radar lol and it's a chunkster isn't it?... probably be skipping it, since there aren't enough hours in the day. Juliet Marillier is a gorgeous writer, I loved Wolfskin and Foxmask, historical fantasy ... Viking world, Scottish islands of Orkney (so good!!)

    3. In my opinion forget The Luminaries - its huge and goes round and round. In fairness I do know people who liked it. One of my sisters was determined to finish it, I must ask her. Anyway I was sorry to have wasted money!! You are so right, there are too many books to read something that might drive you silly. I have just put an order in to the library for Wolfskin - has to come from another library, but that's okay as it is all a free service! Was tempted to buy but am trying to use library rather than spend where possible. In saying that I did hesitate because I like to buy and support authors too. Thanks for the recommendation, I have a feeling I will love this. What's not to love about Vikings!!

I'm reading a new to me--Samantha Young and her book Hero. It's pretty good so far. Frustrating hero but he's still pretty yummy. And listening to Virginia Kantra's Carolina Girl again :)

    1. Many amazing parts but I think the final time when they all gathered to honor the amazing resistance workers was rather special.

    1. Thanks for that Nise - didn't realise there was one from his point of view. I knew there were more in the series but not that. It will be the next audio I get.
