It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Another good week. Some reading, walking, gardening, friend's visit and a 2 year old birthday party to attend! I love all my little great nieces and nephews, and Max I adore. He is such fun and so full of life.  Sonia, my niece - Max's mother, has just finished being part of an art's trail held here annually. Artists open up their work spaces or homes to show and sell their art. She had an amazing amount of work for it, considering she chases a 2yr old and a 3mth one as well! Below are three of them.

I bought one but not any of these, a stylised one of a monarch butterfly and fern fronds. Don't have it yet. I want her to paint Max reading a book for my wall. Hopefully she'll get there some time!

  8. Love your niece's artwork, the bottom two especially ... beautiful colours and so cute but on trend if that makes sense. I imagine the one of Max reading would be adorable and very special. So happy to see you loved The Language of Flowers!! And I've had The Book Thief on my tbr mountain for years but I did watch the movie last year and enjoyed it. One day I'll get to the book.
Have a great week and happy reading :)

  10. The Language of Flowers looks really beautiful. Best of luck with The Book Thief - I sobbed throughout the last part of the novel - one of the most beautiful/lyrical novels there is. :)

  12. I enjoyed The Language of Flowers as well, more than I thought I would actually. I wouldn't have picked it up if it weren't for a book club.
I hope you love the Thirteenth Tale as much as I did. :)

  19. The art is beautiful - I can see why you snagged one up!

I've heard a lot of good things about The Book Thief and yet I still haven't read it. I think it's the popularity and hype surrounding it that has put me off - I would like to pick it up one day for sure! Yay for decreasing TBR and meeting reading challenges.

    Happy Reading!

  21. We read The Book Thief for my book club. I didn't think I would like it, it would not have been a book I would have picked up on my own, but I ended up loving it. And it was great to discuss it with others. Enjoy your books!

  22. Beautiful artwork - very impressive! I have never read The Book Thief and feel like I'm an outsider because of it! I have seen so much buzz over the years about The Language of Flowers - it's one I owned but never read. Maybe I should try it!

    Have a great week!

    2. Oh good. It was an accident buy at a second hand book fair, I put my hand on it because I thought it was Diane Chamberlain, and someone beside me said - oh that's a good book, our book club read it. So very happy to hear you two liked ti, helps going into it.

    3. I know you will love the book, Kathryn.

It is a bit gothic, but has good twists and turns. The end is amazing.

      ENJOY!!
