It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 12th September

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Welcome in everyone, hope your week went well. We had a bit a blast from the South Pole in the last week so it was light the fire and cozy up beside it, and I have to admit walking suffered because I wasn't willing to face into the southerly wind. However all sunshine today.  I have to admit that today I realised I hadn't pruned the roses yet. Getting a bit late for it. I seem to be neglecting the outside considerably.

On Saturday I did visit a Craft and Quilt show which was interesting. Mostly modern quilts on show from Australia. Very clever, although I prefer the traditional ones myself.

What I read last week:

Two review books, both very enjoyable reads.

And I finished listening to Breakaway. The first in the series and I look forward to continuing with it soon.

  3. Ooh a cold blast huh? We'll be getting those from the other direction before too long! I'm going to enjoy fall as much as I can because I know what's coming. :) And yes the Christmas books will be appearing. I haven't been in a bookstore in a while but I know the next time I do I'll see some. I don't really mind though.

Hope your week ahead is a good one!

  4. We had some cold weather while I was at the conference as well. I felt bad for those people who'd come north to Qld hoping for warm weather and sunshine but it rained and was quite chilly the entire time. Until Sunday when the conference finished.. and the sun came out!

  7. The art of keeping secrets - just tell it to your husband! They never remember what we say in any case. Seriously, it does seem like a good read. Love the cover! Echoes of family also looks nice. Hope you will have a good week ahead!

  8. A cozy fire sounds lovely. I wish I had an open fire to use at home. It's one of the nice things about the weather changing. Have a good week.

  11. Seeing the In Death book reminds me that I really want to do another binge of that series. I read the first 8 or 9 earlier this year and then took a break. Maybe that will be up next week! Happy reading :)

  12. How's Overseas? That's the only Beatriz Williams I haven't read.

  15. I've been considering planting some rose bushes. I love seeing the roses in the neighborhood when nothing else is blooming. I'm clueless how to take care of them, though.

  18. I go a little crazy with mysteries in fall and Delusion of Death sounds perfect for this time of year. I hope you have a great week!

  20. Kathryn I always said we were separated at birth and if we agree on Overseas I'll know its true. Have you read anything else by Beatriz? She's a wonderful author, and BFF's with Karen White and Lauren Wittig so if you haven't read The Forgotten room co-authored by the three of them I suggest it too. If you want here is my review of Overseas and it includes my interview with Beatriz -

I'm glad you enjoyed Breakaway and can't wait to see your review
I just turned in my review for Sarah Morgan's 3rd in her From Manhattan with Love trilogy, Miracle on 5th Avenue due out in December!!
    Have a great week!!!!

  21. Always so funny to hear what's going on on the other end of the globe - a southerly wind here means it's warm! It has cooled off here this week, too, but it is a huge relief after all the heat & humidity. Finally cool enough to be out on my back deck again!

Looks like you had a good reading week - hope you enjoy your books again this week!

  24. Overseas looks good and so does the Christmas story. I could use some more fun Christmas. Our outdoor chores are all being neglected. :-(
Cozy fire (add books) sounds lovely.
Hope this is a good week for you!
