Miriam always knew she and Wade would be happy together. He’s a good provider and a doting father to their spirited daughter, Jess. But when a string of disappointments leaves them both feeling doubtful about their future, they’ll have to rediscover themselves and their love—to see that the life they fear is over is really just beginning…

My thoughts:
This is the first book I have read by Canadian author Susan Fox.  I rather enjoyed this novella.  It is set in British Columbia in the mid nineties.  Wade and Miriam marry with eyes full of roses and big plans and much love for each other.  Then real life confronts them.  They take on the Bly ranch, buying out Wade's parents.  In so doing they take on a large mortgage.  Early on in their marriage, while they are still in their twenties big life challenges are thrown at them.  Will they come through them?  Will their love die or will it become something even deeper as together they face what needs to be faced.

Jessie their daughter is a lover of horses and in boots and all to ranch life.  She has an interesting friend Evan, who in many ways is quite the opposite to her.  He comes from the poorer side of town, likes to study and has no interest in horses.  Yet he and Jessie through the early grades at school become fast friends, and Evan becomes an important part of the Bly family.  These two are interesting as they are the main characters in the book to come - Home on the Range - which is out sometime in August.  Their personalities and big dreams are full of promise.  I was sufficiently hooked into these two to want to read their story when it is published.

This book explores  issues of loss and grief, financial pressure, taking on big ventures, what really matters in life - and where is home?

I received this ebook ARC free from the publisher. In return this is my honest review.
