Valerie from Stuck in a Good Book is hosting this Giveaway book hop, along with I Am a Reader, Not a Writer.
I am sure we all know the pleasure we receive when we find ourselves stuck in a good book! It is not something that can be taken for granted. There are many good books I enjoy, and then there are the ones I become fanatical about - I am totally engrossed in them. Those are ones to be treasured.
This year I have ventured out into the world that Nalini Singh has woven with her Psy/Changeling series. This series is in the paranormal genre, of which I read a little - perhaps 4 - 5% of all the books I read. I had heard about this series, but had held back, not sure that I would like it. Nalini Singh was born in Fiji and she grew up in New Zealand, was educated here and lives here. I finally took the plunge and .... I love this series! At present I am reading #9, all too soon I am going to catch up and will have to wait for the next one in 2014.
She has created a world of Psy - a people who rely mainly on their clinical minds, and who over a hundred years back, introduced Silence, rooting out all emotions. Another group - the Changelings rely heavily on their senses and feelings and are highly intelligent as well. Then there are the humans, along with a group The Forgotten who dropped out of the Psy Net before Silence was imposed. There are the Pure Psy who want Silence to be reinforced and kept. I can't do justice to this world in a paragraph - it is so complex and intriguing.
Let the wonderfully articulate Nalini Singh tell you herself.
Interview with Nalini Singh by turnhere
As some of the Psy begin to question the validity of Silence, new relationships form, each book is about a hero and heroine that fully suck you in as the reader. Awesome characters, great plots, wonderful writing. Nalini Singh varies her approach in each book, and book by book her world builds up. This is a series that should be read in order. Each book adds to the jigsaw puzzle, it will not be complete until the final book. Well with luck there won't be a final book.... they will just go on and on! There are so many questions you carry as the reader. Who is this? How do they fit in? Who are they allied to? Romance - mystery - suspense - action. I've become totally immersed in this great series.
I am giving away any book of your choice in this Psy/Changeling series, or her Guild Hunter series. ( I haven't read that yet - but I am sure it will be good. She writes so well. Her latest one in the Guild Hunter series comes out in October.
A paperback (so long as you live where the Book Depository sends books).
Don't read paranormal? Give it a go - try something different. You may be pleasantly surprised!
