It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Oh my, into February, don't you feel as if January just speed by.
Now I am thinking I am going to have to do something to the kitchen bench! And curtains have to be chosen at some point. Anyway no more Pink!
Just as we finally cleaned up we discovered that there are lost car keys. We searched everywhere. My sister dropped it on the counter that you see, which at that point was clear. I never saw them ( but... you never know what you do without being cognizant) and my brother in law who did all the hard work said he saw them on the bench and thought he would pick them up at the end. But when he went there - no keys.
We searched and searched until I was frazzled and so was he! In the end they have my car and will drive home in it, I have the keyless car! They live six hours north of me, and are coming back in two weeks anyway for a preplanned party so hopefully the car keys appear, although they have another key at home. Would you believe today I walked over 14 000 steps mostly due to packing up gear and searching for keys!!
So for the month of January I had a couple of excellent weeks to begin with. The last two weeks I have worn my fitbit but not looking at my steps as been busy about the house and garden. Will start back into proper walks beginning of February. We have had some extremely hot 30 degree C, muggy weather. Has cooled off just a little now thank goodness.
What I read last week:
I enjoyed both. Who's Afraid is urban fantasy and The Edge of Lost is historical fiction. Reviews to follow.
What I am reading at present:
Up next:
Promises in Death J D Robb
Another Love Amanda Prowse
Posts from the last week:
The Expatriates Janice Y. K. Lee
Rustlers' Moon Jodi Thomas
Oh, it is fun to change up your space with painting, etc., but it's no fun to lose keys. Even when I wasn't doing any renovations, I used to lose my keys all the time. Then I set up a big bowl on a table which you can't help but see when you come through the door...and that's where my keys and a few other odds and ends stay. So far so good.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week! I loved the Susan Lewis book, and want to read some Susan Mallery this year.
Hope you find the keys! That is frustrating. I'm glad the remodel is done. I'm sure you'll be happy to have everything finished.
ReplyDeleteGood job with your steps! Hope you get to walk more in the cooler weather. Send the hot weather my way! It was supposed to be warmer today but the wind was kind of chilly and I don't think it reached the mid 50s like the forecast said. At least we didn't have snow!
Hope you have a great week!
I hope those keys show up soon! Once the clean-up is accomplished you can enjoy the wonderful new change. Glad January is over. It was a good reading month for me and I need to get my monthly wrap-up post completed. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteJanuary seems to have flown by!
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been busy. Hope the keys turn up, don't you hate when that happens? So frustrating...they'll turn up when you least expect it, probably. I'll bet everything is going to look so nice when it's all done.
Looking forward to some hot weather, can't wait for spring! Have a good week.
The room is looking good. Hope you find the keys. Funny how some days the steps add up when you aren't watching. I hope to start walking again too if the weather doesn't go too cold again. I have a list of review books but then want to get to another JD Robb.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
Oh wow, how stressful... lost keys on top of the painting! Hope it calms down soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree January has just disappeared. Though I seem to say that about each week, month and year. Maybe it just seems like that the older we get!
Who's afraid sounds like a good book. We lost keys once when we were laying new flooring and we never did find those keys.
ReplyDeleteI just finished another Susan Lewis book which was very good. I hope you like this one. I also hope that the keys will be found.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I would just fall apart if I couldn't find car keys! I hope you find them! The kitchen is looking nice! I love the cover of The Edge of Lost. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteHope the keys turn up soon, 6 hours is a huge hassle compared to 10mins up the road ... eek! I'd have been stressed too. But the kitchen looks lovely!! Great job on the steps too ... it's been disgustingly muggy here, lots of storms but it doesn't cool things off, just builds to the next one.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover of The Edge of Lost and you know how much I love historical fiction so I'll have to check what it's about. And I still haven't started on The Friends We Keep, hopefully this week. Have a wonderful week Kathryn and happy reading :)

Oh no! I hope that you find it
ReplyDeleteSorry about the lost keys! Your yellow color looks very pretty though! I like the fitbit so far. I have an idea now about how many steps are in a day. Some days are better than others. If I get a walk in, I usually make my goal. However, I need to get more walks in!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness...hope you find the car key! Sounds like you had a good reading week in between all the other busyness. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like all the updates are coming together. Will you be posting a picture once its all done?
ReplyDeleteHope you find those car keys and have a great week.
OMG, about those keys! Hope you find them, but at least they have spares!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the final before/after pictures! Off to check off "Who's Afraid?".
ReplyDeleteOh no! Hope you find the keys soon!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a stressful time, but I know the results will be worth it. Sure hope those keys turn up! The Edge of Lost looks good.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, that's a lot of craziness in the midst of remodeling- hope the keys turn up soon!
ReplyDeleteOn this first day of February, I'm finishing up Tricky Twenty-Two, starting the ebook of Status Update, and starting the audio of A Darker Shade of Magic!
Oh wow. I wonder what happened to the keys! I sure hope you come across them soon.
ReplyDeletewow. Too bad about the keys. That's really frustrating. And they're expensive to replace. I had to pay a couple hundred dollars for the key and for it to be programmed a while back - and that was without the fob. So upsetting! Hopefully you'll fare better than that.
ReplyDeleteUgh lost keys are annoying, hmm I'd check they weren't accidentally bundled up in the drop sheets if you haven't. I best you'll be glad when the painting is finished.
ReplyDeleteIve seen Who's Afraid around a lot and I'm curious. Have a great reading week!

I hope the keys turn up soon! What a nightmare. :-(
ReplyDeleteI really hope you find the keys, eek........ I am going to read your review of Expatriates, I'm really intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI hope those wandering keys reappear soon. My house could use a new coat of paint too but moving the furniture is the daunting part for me. Most of it is too heavy for me too handle. Hope you have a good reading week!
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding the keys. Can't wait to hear where you find them. :) I have The Edge of Lost on my pile. I look forward to reading your review. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI hope you find the keys soon! That is frustrating!! Redecorating can be fun, but I'm terrible at deciding what I want, colors, etc. Lol. Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteNo, I can't believe it's February already either!
ReplyDeleteYou had a busy week - I love the colors! Looks great :)
Enjoy your books this week - and I hope you find the car keys soon!

Book By Book
Oh no about your car keys. Your kitchen looks gorgeous, though. Love the white and the blue. I hope you find the keys. Look in the paint? That would be awful, but you never know.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week. I so want to read The Edge of Lost.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Goodbye pink! I love the new butter-soft yellow. Who's Afraid looks really good, the synopsis reminds me of early Kelly Armstrong.
ReplyDeleteLove the new looks of the rooms above! Very soothing. Sorry about the lost keys. My adult son always seems to misplace his keys or his phone, so I gave him one of those gadgets that will flash a light and beep if you clap your hands near it. But... it only works if you actually have attached the gizmo to the keys or phone, lol. A stocking stuffer that hasn't come out of its box yet :)
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of Susan Lewis for women's lit and Who's Afraid looks like a good one! Enjoy your week walking, renovating, and reading!
The kitchen looks great - what a beautiful colour. It sounds like a bit of a fiasco with the keys though; I hope that issue is sorted out soon!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading for the month of February!
Reading With Jade
I'm exhausted just reading about all that work! I hope you find the keys soon. That's craziness. I'm pretty sure keys just disappear on their own because mine used to disappear all the time. I had to get crazy strict about where I put them! Enjoy your books. There are several that are on my TBR as well.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Edge of Lost - Kristina got one of my few 5 star reviews last year - she hasn't disappointed me yet
ReplyDeleteYou'll probably find your keys in the same place that odd socks hide :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Edge of Lost sounds interesting. Love the cover. I look forward to reading your review.
Kathryn can't wait to see finished pics! You know I loved The Edge of Lost, Kristina is a fabulous author and I've laughed and cried with her for years. Right now its my lull and free read time so I'm cramming. I'm listening to The Forgotten Room by Karen White, Beatriz Williams and Lauren Willig, Reading The Ramblers by Aidan Donnelley Rowley, Just finished The Hunt Book two in Donna Augustine's The Wilds series and I have a few more to go before I pick up my contract reviews.
ReplyDeleteI saw your review on Goodreads and loved that you loved it! Want to read The Forgotten Room too!
DeleteOh wow, I love those DIY photos - sounds like an immense project. The Edge of Lost looks really interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear I'm not the only one thrown off by February's arrival. I did ok with writing 2016, but I can't seem to remember that it's February instead of January!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your thoughts on The Edge of Lost!
I just finished visiting all 85 blogs. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved every minute of it.
Happy Reading!!
