Firstly thank you to Beth from Beth Fish Reads who told me how to correct the Blogger fault of notices of comments on my blog not coming to my email. Thanks to her they now are!

I am still moving to WordPress and an update on that next week. 

This week sees the end of July. I know! But... August is my birthday month and I have carefully orchestrated it to not have one review book to read! ( I still have reviews to post though). One of the birthday gifts to me is NO review reading in August. I am going to read only my books or books I get from the library. Big smile!

To celebrate as well I will be having a giveaway on each of the Mondays  in August on It's Monday! What Are You Reading? Those who link to those posts will qualify to be part of it. Nothing else needed.

Now unfortunately I won't be around for a couple of days because I am travelling again to Rotorua because the lawyer wants myself and my sister to sign some documents! Re my sister's estate that we are  executers for.  So sigh! Hours of driving with some twisty roads. The weather looks okay at this point. I'd like to see some snow on the mountains as we pass by!

I drive to Whanganui by myself, its good road and quite flat.  I meet up with my sister and then we go on to Rotorua which will take about three to four hours. The section from her place to the top of Lake Taupo is quite twisty and hilly and that's where we pass the mountains. (A ski area).  It is all volcanic - Taupo is a large crater lake, that erupted about 26 500 years ago and is about the size of Singapore. We go around that and then once on the bypass we are good travelling to Rotorua, a big thermal area, has its own lakes and steam and thermal mud pool areas.  But we aren't tourists and we sleep the night sign documents and travel in reverse all the way home on Monday!

I've thought about it and I've decided I am going to move over to WordPress.com.  I am going to have to cut my losses for some of the styling on this blog that I do love, but the whole Blogger commenting system is just so useless. I need those reminders in my email which of course Blogger has cut out. I read somewhere that every year Google cuts out something so looks like the email alert of comments on Blogger blogs. I missed some comments, which of course is my fault but I need the alert!

And there are other issues I won't go into, if you are with Blogger you probably know them yourself and choose to live with them but I have decided to shift. I like the WordPress experience a  little better. I have my quilting blog there and have used it before when I was teaching.  So it is with some regret though that I will move.

I did export this blog about a year ago to the WordPress site and have in the last week been moving over some of my posts from the last year. I won't move everything and will just leave some posts only here. They will all be here. I am not sure how that will mess with duplicating material as I am not doing any fancy things to stop that being picked up. My theory is I am such a small blogger it won't affect anything!

I intend to make the switch in August, best scenario at the beginning of August, but could be into August, but I will leave a link post once I move.

And so we march on into the middle of July. I had a quiet week you know. The usual - reading, sewing, visiting, ignoring the housework, shopping. All routine and mostly enjoyable.  On Saturday I sat outside in the sunshine - now that's unusual because it is the middle of winter - but it was so still, sunny and warm.

Last Wednesday I went out to a craft night at a friend's house. She lives a bit more out in the country/beach area so some night driving along dark lanes. I dislike night driving and more so in places I am not too sure of with twisty lanes. Anyway I live to tell another tale, read another book!

Today I am off to visit my newest little great nephew. He was meant to be born this month but was born two months early. He has done really well and I very excited to meet him today at his Grandma's house where he is visiting with his mother today.

This is another great niece - a two year old, reading to her dolls with her Nana's glasses (my sister) on. Upside down mind you. Nana needs her glasses when she reads to Elise! Gotta love such an early reader!

This week I finished reading The Choice by Edith Eger. I can only wonder why I hadn't heard of her before, but I have now and I am so inspired and blown away by her story.                   

What I read last week:

From the library... enjoyed it once I got into it, it turned in a strange little way that didn't totally grab me but happy I read it... and it then turned out I could tick of a category in a challenge I am doing. Won't say what because I think better to come across it not expecting it.

From my Listening  Liked it but didn't love it. Was good starting off but then it dragged and got a bit repetitive, liked her most recent book far better.

From the review pile  This Australian author always delights me with her unique voice and different take on things. 

From the non fiction pile and going on my list of top reads for 2018. What an outstanding book - a memoir of an amazing person. 

What I am reading at present:

From the library....And recommended by both Debbie from The Reading Frenzy and Mary from Book Fan.

For my listening ... haven't started it yet but will, I listened to the first one and I have seen so many good reviews from some of you for this one I just had to keep going with the trilogy into book 2.

Well we are into the second half of the year. Right into July, I know some of you are experiencing now very high summer temps. Me - we've had some wonderful hard crisp frosts and glorious sunny days. Not all the time but enough to thoroughly enjoy.

I didn't get that much reading in this past week, but I did start a bookshelf quilt. Something I have been wanting to do for ages.  It is only in the early stages yet, but I am happily visualising it above my bed. I can't hang anything heavy there as we are earthquake prone, so a light quilt should be ideal!

So I came home Tuesday, and was quite tired for a couple of days. Travel up one day, see lawyer next, travel home the next! I wish I was one of those people who can read or sew in a car... but no! And definitely not for sure around all the many twists and turns.  Although the scenery was gorgeous so no complaints really.

I am watching a little TV, my fav at the moment is S2 of Doctor Doctor. An Australian programme that just hits the right note for me of drama and comedy, and I love the actors who have the various parts. Plus the way they film the Australian scenery, outstanding. 

And A Place to Call Home S5 has just started as well, I recorded it, but I look forward to catching up with this Australian one as well.  I am not into crime, reality TV, cooking and singing shows, so there isn't much that comes along that I like. I do have Netflix though. Did I say I spend more time reading than viewing!

This week my eye was caught on Twitter by this link to a post that talks about the value of reader reviews. It does make me want to keep making sure I do - however small.  How To Feed Your Favorite Author  by Donna June Cooper

What I read last week:

I finished listening to this audiobook as planned while driving home from being away.

I also finished this review book

And this book from my very new shelf!  And well worth the read too. A favourite series!

What I am reading at present:

I started listening to this one, it is part of a series and I worried I'd have forgotten the characters, but no I have picked it up from where it left off easily.

And I have just started this review book. I have enjoyed books by Barbara O'Neal in the past so hoping I will do so too with this one.
