It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!
Welcome in again everyone. Oh my the days do race, but I guess that is a good thing, means I am not bored! I have been offline a bit, Tuesday was taken up with... yes screws for the cabinet handles, but after 5 trips to the shop Tuesday, finally on Thursday the correct screws were produced.
I have also been doing some quilting and as I am new at it I am very slow, I have joined an online quilting endeavour The Splendid Sampler where two new blocks are introduced every week, going to be a hundred all told. For everyone I have to look up techniques and learn new skills - has cut into my reading and blogging time. However the blocks people are making are amazing and I love looking at what they have done.
Sunday - just when I was thinking of turning to the computer, our network went down and they only came back on board around 5 pm, so life has small challenges!
My efforts so far:
What I read last week:
Both excellent - reviews will follow at some point.
From my TBR shelf I read and enjoyed this contemporary romance.
From my TBR shelf I read and enjoyed this contemporary romance.
What I am reading at present:
Still listening to: Slowed a little as I haven't been walking quite so much in last week, but loving what I have listened to in this reread.
I am about to start reading:
Review book, new author to me.
Flight of Dreams Ariel Lawhon
A Girl's Guide to Moving On Debbie Macomber
The days have been flying by, seems like. March already! Glad you got the cabinet handles sorted, that must be a good feeling. All projects come to an end eventually, right? :) Hope you had a great weekend. Chocolate Shop in Paris looks nice.

ReplyDeleteBook covers like A Time for Home always get my attention. Something about a pretty house or cabin on the cover - I love them! So cool that you're quilting, I wish I had the patience for something like that. Even knitting - I've considered it, but not sure it's for me. Maybe some day.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your reads and have a great week!
Lovely quilt squares. Quilting is something I would love to learn to do if I could find extra time! Glad the right screws were found! Hope you have a great week. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting sounds wonderful! I'm looking forward to reading Flight of Dreams.
ReplyDeleteI don't know a thing about quilting but I like the end result. Your project looks good so far! You read some good books this past week. I'd like to give Lucinda Riley a try sometime. Her books look good.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love quilts, but have never tried any quilting...my mother used to go to regular Quilting Bees. I would tag along and watch. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of your books this week...I am very curious about A Time for Home.
Thanks for sharing!
Your quilt squares are lovely. I saw one recently that tempted me - a T-Shirt quilt. Seems a great way to save some special, old T-shirts.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you enjoyed your reading this week... and very glad that you found the screws. I like the look of A Time for Home. Enjoy your week quilting and reading!
Love the colours in your quilting Kathryn. Is selecting them hard? I'd probably choose stuff which ultimately clashed!!!
ReplyDeleteI've not read a Rachael Johns but follow her on social media and she seems lovely. I'm just not sure her books are for me though.
Most likely not Deb - RJ for you - that is. But she writes great Australian rural romance. The colours come in waves so on the whole easy to put colours together.
DeleteLovely quilting so far. I wish I had your talent and ambition. I can't sew, quilt, crochet, anything of that nature.
ReplyDeleteI do want to read The Storm Sister. Beautiful cover and interesting blurb. I think I read somewhere it is part of a series though, so maybe I should pick up book 1 first.
Glad your renovations are coming along nicely. Can't wait to see the finished photos!
Renovations have stalled as I get mundane stuff done, like winter wood stacked. But will organise more soon!
DeleteWell done on your quilting, the squares look great! It seems so involved, my nan used to quilt and there were so many things to think about and do!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the Rachael Johns - I thought Outback Sisters was a great read.
The quilt colours are gorgeous! I used to quilt a very long time ago. It's so rewarding!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of quilters (I had to cheat to pass Home Ec), and those squares are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am intrigued by The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris- looks good.
I am currently listening to Splintered, an Alice in Wonderland inspired YA, reading Dead Witch Walking on my Kindle and finishing up Sisters' Fate in hardback. :) Happy reading!
Oh I love your quilting fabrics, so pretty! Have a great week, looks like you've got some great reads waiting for you :)
ReplyDeleteI used to quilt a lot but though I don't do it anymore I still enjoy reading and looking at new techniques. Enjoy the week.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you got your screws. Your quilting looks fabulous. It must be a lot of fun working with all of those beautiful colors. I'm glad you to hear The Loveliest Chocolate Shop In Paris is excellent. It is on my To Read List. Have a great week Kathryn.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt....I have no talent or patience. ENJOY!!
ReplyDeleteGreat books for you this week too.
Yippee on getting the screws for your cabinets. Take a photo to share when everything is done please.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Quilt project looks amazing so far!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the quilt blocks! I have added The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris to my TBR list. The other titles are ones I would double check too.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt squares are beautiful. They seem very intricate for a beginner. Great job!
ReplyDeleteInternet out? Sounds like a perfect excuse to read! We were in the same boat this weekend, only it was our own fault - my husband had to install a new modem & home network...then get all our devices working with it! I used my non-internet time to finally clear off a bookcase that's been lingering in our hallway - now we need to move it and refill it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books this week -
Sue

Your quilt looks fantastic! I'm so impressed with people who can sew, it is a skill I've always admired but never learned. I really enjoyed your review for Flight of Dreams, it is such an interesting topic and look forward to reading it myself. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that you are learning to quilt. My daughter quilts and she has put together some beautiful ones. Happy quilting and reading!
ReplyDeleteThe Chocolate Shop and the Lucinda Riley books caught my eye.

ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try my hand at quilting. I look forward to seeing how yours turns out.
ReplyDeleteI tried quilting once, but was so overwhelmed by all those pieces of fabric that I gave up. You have made a great start and I'm also looking forward to seeing your finished quilt. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteGreat week in review thanks for sharing, I'm drowning in contract reviews this month and won't be up for air until after the 24th. I can't even get in one pleasure read this month. How did this happen, oh yeah I don't say no well ;-) LOL
ReplyDeleteAll your books look amazing! I love Emilie Richards and that is one of my favorites. All of the books you've read look fantastic so I can't wait to see your reviews. The Lucille Riley book looks great. I need to get The Seven Sisters first though.
ReplyDeleteThe Storm Sister looks good!! I will have to check that author out for sure!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. :)
