It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 13th June 2016

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Welcome in everyone.
Last week I had a Giveaway on the It's Monday post and the winner of the $15 Amazon voucher or choice of book was Deb from Readerbuzz.   Her lucky link was No. 29. Congratulations Deb.

I've enjoyed the week and loved seeing what many others are reading. I rarely read Thrillers but have been attracted to one or two through posts I've read. Laurel-Rain happened to mention on one of my posts that she rarely reads Historical Fiction. We all have our favourites, yet we branch out now and then. What do you rarely read?

These will be my next reads, however not sure in which order. Sleepless in Manhattan is from new buys shelf. The other two are both review books. Excited about the first and third ones. I have never read Karma Brown so that I am sure will be a new pleasure in store.

  1. I just started reading Mystic Summer this evening. So far I like it.

I rarely read suspense novels especially psychological suspense like The Girl on the Train or Gone Girl. I have read a few YA suspense novels but I prefer historical fiction, fantasy or contemporary fiction.

  2. I rarely read Science Fiction. Did you enjoy Mystic Summer? I hope to get to that soon.

  3. Mystic Summer and Lavender morning both look wonderful! Enjoy your week!

  4. Well I used to rarely read contemporaries (YA or adult) but lately that's changed, I've read several. And I tried cozy mysteries last year and have enjoyed several of those so, now, I'm not sure. And I've read a few good thrillers as well, another genre I never touched a lot. Fun to expad my reading choices lol.

    Have a great week Kathryn!!

  5. What a great reading week. I like to read most genres but I have to say that I rarely read fantasy books. Sarah Morgan book looks cool.

  6. Last weeks covers look dreamy, hope they were great reads. Happy Monday

  7. Ive heard really good things about Lavender Morning, so I hope you enjoyed it! I'm not much into fantasy sagas (like Lord of the Rings) but I have read a few lately that I really enjoyed. Have a great week.

  8. I recently listened to an interview with Sarah Morgan and she was a hoot! I'm definitely going to check out some of her books!

  9. I rarely read Science Fiction, but I've loved most of that genre that I've read. I also haven't read a regency romance since high school, so I guess it's a never read those.

  10. I rarely read historical fiction and I never read fantasy or sci fi or dystopian type stuff. And I never ever read non-fiction! Oh and I don't read a lot of romance, though don't mind if it's mixed in with suspense for eg.

  11. I hardly ever read historical fiction and non-fiction. Have a great week.

  12. I really enjoy historical fiction, but sci-fi is a never and fantasy a rarity. But what I love is that reading other people's reviews opens up my horizons to loads of great books (that I'd probably never look at).

  13. I rarely read sic-fi, if at all. I usually enjoy Historical Fiction. Lately I am drawn toward thrillers. I hope you are enjoying Miller's Valley. I have Mystic Summer, but haven't started it yet. Have a great week!

  14. I rarely read historical fiction and non-fiction. Once in a blue moon I'll branch out, but usually I stick with my regular genres.

I have the Susan Schild book to review and she has another one coming out in August that I'll be reading. Looks good.

    Have a great week!

  15. Interesting about Laurel-Rain never reading historical fiction...I used to love that genre and now it's fallen off a bit for me. Many of the books seem to run together for me now. Plus, the overwhelming number of WWII books, which I'm completely burned out of.

  16. It's been a long time since I've read an amazing historical fiction book. I need to get to back to that genre.

Thank you so much for the wonderful giveaway!

  17. Congrats, Deb!

I rarely read YA or fantasy, although I'm reading a YA right now and have been getting into more fantasy lately. I'm just picky about them because they aren't my go-to kind of books.

I've read Come Away with Me by Karma Brown and loved it. I also have her new book on my 'to read' list this week! I've heard great things, so I hope we both enjoy!!
I'm also wanting to read the new Morgan book!
    Have a great week!

  18. Looking at all the previous post, it seems I read most every genre. If I had to pick one that I rarely read, it would be dystopian fantasy. And I have read some. I read Marissa Meyers Cinder and Scarlet. They are loosely based on Cinderella and Red Riding Hood and I enjoyed them a lot.

  19. Mystic Summer is in my TBR stack. Will check out your review if you have it done. :)

So jealous of The Seven Sisters.

I normally do not go out of my normal reading genres. In answer to your question about what I rarely read...I am going to say I NEVER read Sci-Fi, Paranormal, or really scary thrillers. :)

Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful week.

  20. I want to read Millers Valley and the first in the Guardians trilogy too! Enjoy!

  21. I'm really looking forward to reading Bay of Sighs. I loved the first book in the series. The Seven Sisters is another one tempting me and I just love the cover for Mystic Summer! Have a great week!

  22. I rarely read anything that isn't SciFi or Fantasy.

  23. Great books on your list today. I really want to read Miller's Valley.

I never read Sci-Fi but I love Susan Kaye Quinn, who writes in a lot of different genres, so when she wrote some sci-fi of course I had to read it. It opened up a whole new world to me. I wouldn't say I am into it deep, but I am more open minded about that genre now.

    Happy reading!

  24. I rarely read contemporary. But in the past few years I've been pushing myself through various challenges, especially the 50 States one and a Quest to read a book from every shelf in my library. Those often make me read outside my comfort zone, which is fun.

  25. Looks like you had a good reading week! I would like to read the latest Anna Quindlen.

I read a pretty wide range - not a lot of thrillers but some. Not a lot of what I think of as genre fiction anyway - mostly general fiction. I used to think I didn't like Historical Fiction...until I read some! March by Geraldine Brooks blew my mind & opened my eyes :) I guess the only genre I rarely read is romance.

Have a good week & enjoy your books!

  28. I'll be curious to see what you think of the Jude Deveraux one. I loved her Montgomery series back in the day, something I need to reread.
