It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
I had an enjoyable week, a mixture of meeting up with others, visitors and an extended family Christmas season gathering. Along with lots of quilting and audiobooks. Weather was scrappy and today it is blowing a gale and the plants are being knocked around!
Hope all the USA readers had a great Thanksgiving.
What I read last week:
Audiobooks
I finished this one and really liked it. Great story and nicely narrated.
I've been quilting which involves a lot of straight line sewing so I listened to the following one in a couple of days. Fun story also known in the USA as The Bookshop on the Corner. Set in Scotland and another light entertaining story for book lovers.
And ta da! This one too. I did say quilting all these straight lines, which turns out is excellent for listening to audiobooks.
A very entertaining listen. Another British book so well narrated by Clare Corbett. A typical Jill Mansell book with a number of story lines but all connecting in a village. This one is about a young guy who suddenly finds he is about to take over the care of his eight month old nephew.
Books Read
Review book
From my own shelf.Enjoyed this very much and I will certainly be reading more of Christine Nolfi.
What I am reading at present:
From my TBR a book by a NZ author so that I can complete a little self-challenge! Historical fiction and so far good.
Listening to...
It has been a great Thanksgiving weekend here in the US. I had a great time with family. You had a great reading week. I am going to take Breath of Fire next week with me while on a quick vacay. Hope this week is just a great.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good week!I love Christmas get- togethers. I think I've seen The Bookshop on the Corner around. And Sarah Jio I've been wanting to read (her Goodnight June looks like a good read).
ReplyDeleteI loved The Second Chance Grill and The Look of Love. Sounds like you had a lovely week. Enjoy the next one.
ReplyDeleteLooks like some good reads. Jenny colgan is an author I want to read soon.
ReplyDeleteLots of listening, which is great to do while your hands are busy. Sounds like you enjoyed all of your books recently. I want to check out the Bookshop one. I've read some Sarah Jio but not that one you mentioned. I read Second Chance Grill when it came out and liked it too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead, reading and quilting!
Jill Mansell looks like someone I'd like to try out. Listening to an audiobook is fun as I love being able to multi-task at the same time. Have another great week of reading.
ReplyDeleteMostly upbeat read there at the moment Kathryn - I guess it's that time of year. I've even received a Christmas themed book, which is usually unheard of in my world. (Bah humbug and all of that!)
ReplyDeleteWe've had some windy weather as well!
It's great that you can quilt and listen to audiobooks at the same time. I saw the book Tamar on another blog and it looks like something I would read. Enjoy your reading week!
ReplyDeleteI just heard someone talking about "The Bookshop on the Corner." I'm definitely adding that one to my list!
ReplyDeleteSeems it was a good audio week :D
ReplyDeleteI love the covers of the Jill Mansell and Jenny Colgan books, I have a soft spot for those Brit covers. I'm glad you were able to get some quilting done and some audiobook listening in as well! I have an audiobook coming in this week (I don't usually go for them) but I need something for when I'm doing my knitting and crafting in December. I hope you enjoy Tamar!
ReplyDeleteA good reading - or listening - week. I wish I could get away with audio books. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year, busy but it is also great time for catching up for get togethers. It sounds like you have had an enjoyable week and productive as well book-wise. Sorry to hear the weather has been scrappy and windy too, hopefully it improves for you soon. I hope the Deborah Challinor book is going well, great to hear it is helping with a self challenge! It like the look of the Lucy Dillon book, I have another of hers on my bookshelf to read one day! Jenny Colgan - she's an old favourite of mine - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
So many great authors on your list - Jill Mansell, Jenny Colgan, Nora Roberts... enjoy your reading! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Barbara O'Neal's books - love how she tells a story!
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of fun audio reads. I love when I'm doing work that allows me to listen to books - I got through a lot of audiobooks this past week too. But I wasn't being that productive. I was just addicted lol!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Sounds like a nice week. :) Crafting + audiobooks is awesome.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great week for you Kathryn I'm trying to get all my reviews turned in on time, the holiday put me a bit behind. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful week. Glad you enjoyed some time with family, too! We missed out traditional family gathering for Thanksgiving...but instead, we were on a wonderful vacation! We never wanted to come home!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your books again this week - more quilting and audios for you? I'm downloading a new audio now :)
