It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Welcome in everyone. Hope your week was filled with some good reading. Mine was. And also with link ups with friends. And now we have a long weekend so all is great.

I watched with interest the change over of the presidency in the US. The Obamas will be missed world wide. Such a couple filled with humanity, compassion, integrity warmth and a spirit of service.

We shall now wait to see what happens next.

What I read last week:
As it turns out two review books and one from my back log of books bought over a year ago now. All very good reads.

  1. I liked On Second Thought. I'm enjoying her "women's fiction" more than the contemporary romances she writes. I hope she writes more! I have Accidents of Marriage on my TBR pile. I never got around to reading it. I'm a little worried that it might be a "trigger" book for me. I might read The Wicked City sometime. I've read a few of her other books. Hope you are enjoying it.

I think everyone will miss the Obamas. Friday was a sad day (in my opinion). On Saturday my city had a Women's March but I didn't know about it till it was too late. Some ladies I know did attend. Said it was inspiring.

Hope you have a great week!

  3. It was a big week in world politics and the feeling worldwide is that the Obamas will be missed. I have been watching the various marches happening with interest.

It sounds like you have had a very good reading week Kathryn. It always feels good to clear a back log of books that have been around for over a year - so well done!

I really like the look of Jill Mansell's new book so I'm going to check out your review now.

Have a lovely week and happy reading,

    Amanda :-)

  4. I am so missing the Obamas, too; we had a classy administration with them. Now we have a petulant and thin-skinned wannabe despot who loves to tweet. LOL.

My One Word is Hope, however, so who knows what could happen?

Enjoy your week, and The Wicked City looks good.

  5. I've not heard of any of your books this week Kathryn which is unusual. I feel like I'm a bit of a lull or something....

  8. What a great week of reading you had. I'm in awe of the many who participated in the Women's March every where around the world. I'll try to come back tomorrow (PST) with a book post.

  11. I love your comment about the new Presidential administration... "wait to see what happens next." That is so true, Kathryn! And, yes, I know that I will certainly miss having the Obama family in the White House. I'm excited to hear what you think about The Wicked City! I have enjoyed many of her novels! Thanks so much for hosting; hope you have a great day! - Tara at itstaraleigh.com

  15. I wish the Obamas the best now that they are out of the White House, but won't miss them being there. I'm looking forward to what the Trump administration can do, and I hope that all Americans will continue to respect the office and be fair and open-minded. I'm more than tired of the negativity and media bias that has been prevalent over the past several months.

    Happy Reading!

  17. Enjoy your long weekend! I didn't get enough reading time in this week. Still getting back into the groove with work/school and things have been busy, so I'm pretty worn out by night-time. Have a great week!

  21. I have On Second Thought and A Wicked City coming up and I'm looking forward to both of them. I really enjoyed the last Beatriz Williams I wrote and I like Kristen Higgins' writing but a change from her usual contemporary romance sounds nice. Have a great week!

  24. I'm wondering whether to read The Wicked City or listen to the audio. The only Kristan Higgins I've read is The Nightingale, which was a big hit at book club. Thanks for hosting IMWAYR! It's the only thing that's gotten me to post lately!

  26. The Chocolate Thief sounds fun. I guess if you were going to turn to a life of crime, you might as well take something yummy!

    Happy reading!
