It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Welcome in everyone. Hope your week was filled with some good reading. Mine was. And also with link ups with friends. And now we have a long weekend so all is great.
I watched with interest the change over of the presidency in the US. The Obamas will be missed world wide. Such a couple filled with humanity, compassion, integrity warmth and a spirit of service.
We shall now wait to see what happens next.
What I read last week:
As it turns out two review books and one from my back log of books bought over a year ago now. All very good reads.
What I am reading at present:
Still listening to ...
Meet Me at Beachcomber Bay Jill Mansell
Pretty Little World Elizabeth LeBan and Melissa DePino
I liked On Second Thought. I'm enjoying her "women's fiction" more than the contemporary romances she writes. I hope she writes more! I have Accidents of Marriage on my TBR pile. I never got around to reading it. I'm a little worried that it might be a "trigger" book for me. I might read The Wicked City sometime. I've read a few of her other books. Hope you are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone will miss the Obamas. Friday was a sad day (in my opinion). On Saturday my city had a Women's March but I didn't know about it till it was too late. Some ladies I know did attend. Said it was inspiring.
Hope you have a great week!
Definitely missing the Obamas. Feels like a different country in some ways with the change. the marches were inspiring however and give one some hope.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice week. :)
It was a big week in world politics and the feeling worldwide is that the Obamas will be missed. I have been watching the various marches happening with interest.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have had a very good reading week Kathryn. It always feels good to clear a back log of books that have been around for over a year - so well done!
I really like the look of Jill Mansell's new book so I'm going to check out your review now.
Have a lovely week and happy reading,
Amanda :-)
I am so missing the Obamas, too; we had a classy administration with them. Now we have a petulant and thin-skinned wannabe despot who loves to tweet. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMy One Word is Hope, however, so who knows what could happen?
Enjoy your week, and The Wicked City looks good.
I've not heard of any of your books this week Kathryn which is unusual. I feel like I'm a bit of a lull or something....

ReplyDeleteI have The Wicked City too which I will be reading soon for book tour. I hope you're enjoying it. Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great week of reading you had. I'm in awe of the many who participated in the Women's March every where around the world. I'll try to come back tomorrow (PST) with a book post.
ReplyDeleteThe Wicked City looks good, I have been wanting to read her. Have you read her before?
ReplyDeleteI have read and enjoyed some of her other books Viki. I am only 10% in on this one - its a little different so we shall see!
DeleteYou are right. The Obama's will be missed ...
ReplyDeleteI love your comment about the new Presidential administration... "wait to see what happens next." That is so true, Kathryn! And, yes, I know that I will certainly miss having the Obama family in the White House. I'm excited to hear what you think about The Wicked City! I have enjoyed many of her novels! Thanks so much for hosting; hope you have a great day! - Tara at itstaraleigh.com
ReplyDeleteThe Wicked City looks good, I like books set in the past.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to miss the Obamas... already missing them. Nervous about what's coming next, but time will tell. Enjoy your reads!
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of THE WICKED CITY. I always enjoy Beatriz Williams' books. Interesting to see you said it is different.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your review.
Have a good week this week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
I wish the Obamas the best now that they are out of the White House, but won't miss them being there. I'm looking forward to what the Trump administration can do, and I hope that all Americans will continue to respect the office and be fair and open-minded. I'm more than tired of the negativity and media bias that has been prevalent over the past several months.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
All the books on your shelf look good. I'm especially interested in The Wicked City. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your long weekend! I didn't get enough reading time in this week. Still getting back into the groove with work/school and things have been busy, so I'm pretty worn out by night-time. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have another good reading week, Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with any of these books or authors. I hope you enjoy your reading this week.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the Obamas. It sounds like you had a good week.
ReplyDeleteI have On Second Thought and A Wicked City coming up and I'm looking forward to both of them. I really enjoyed the last Beatriz Williams I wrote and I like Kristen Higgins' writing but a change from her usual contemporary romance sounds nice. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAccidents of Marriage is on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteLoved On Second Thought. Just brought home The Wicked City and look forward to reading. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering whether to read The Wicked City or listen to the audio. The only Kristan Higgins I've read is The Nightingale, which was a big hit at book club. Thanks for hosting IMWAYR! It's the only thing that's gotten me to post lately!
ReplyDeleteI need to try out Florand still. They always sound good. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Chocolate Thief sounds fun. I guess if you were going to turn to a life of crime, you might as well take something yummy!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
