Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
One week of holidays gone by and I am enjoying them very much. As I write there is the noise of large machinery behind me as they eat a hill away over my back fence. A four lane highway is being built so that through traffic does not have to come into our town. It has been long in the promising, and while it is filling my backyard with sand with the help of a nasty south westerly, I want the road so that we are not so clogged up with traffic!
I thought the noise would be annoying, but I must say I am not bothered by it.
What I read:
Enjoyed this very much.
A very different style for this author though.
Finished listening to this.
How does Liane Moriarty get her ideas!
One by new author Carrie Beckort.
An interesting read.
The third in the Kiss River trilogy.
Really liked the three books as a whole.
A light Victorian historical romance.
A Christmas time story.
What I am reading at present.
Informed Risk by Robyn Carr.
This is one of her much earlier stories written in 1989, although I think the edition I am reading may have had a little updating - don't think laptops were readily available then!
What might I read next?
Possibly The Book Club by Mary Alice Monroe - library book.
Then The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain
I have not read that Moriarty book, but I need to! I've loved her other books.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading!
A four lane highway, wow. That's good that they're not driving you nuts yet with the construction. :) Hope your holidays continue to be good!
ReplyDeleteWhat Alice Forgot looks very good, not a book that would be on my radar but after reading the blurb I'm intrigued. What would it be like lose 10 years of memories? I'm tempted to read this.
It is good Greg and author is Australian and the narrator is Australian.
DeleteI really must read Liane Moriarty - everyone raves about her books!
ReplyDeleteGlad the machinery noise isn't bothering you, especially since you're on holidays but the lessening of traffic will be a big bonus. I liked What Alice Forgot, not as much as The Husband's Secret but still really good. Do you have a favourite?
ReplyDeleteOops I forgot all about The Silent Sister, it's on my review list ...
Enjoy the holidays and happy reading :)
You know I liked both of them very much. I would hate to have to choose between the two but ... I think I might lean slightly to What Alice Forgot. But liked them both very much. Ye gods, I am becoming a little old Australian author reader!!
DeleteI'm glad the noise isn't bothering you! Enjoy your last week of holidays!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your selections this week,

Funny how some noises are beyond irritating and others, not so much. Glad it is not bothering you.
ReplyDeleteI am intrigued by still another Diane Chamberlain title that I haven't read. Thanks for sharing...and thanks for visiting my blog.
Grace Burrowes is a good author. Can't wait to see what you have to say about "What a Lady Needs at Christmas."
ReplyDeleteHere is my Monday post.
Happy reading!
We just got through with a week of roofers doing repairs from the last big hailstorm. Bright and early every morning. LOL
ReplyDeleteGuy Vestal @ Counter Culture Critic - My Monday
The highway behind my house is currently closed for resurfacing. I don't miss the traffic noise but I'll be glad when it reopens because I'm tired of driving longer distances to get where I need to go. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any Liane Moriarty and think I'm probably missing out as all I hear are good things! Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Monday - http://bmariebooks.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-2.html
I am glad the noise isn't too bad and I hope the highway noise when complete won't be disturbing. Is a barrier wall planned?
ReplyDeleteYou have read two books, the SEP and the Burrowes, that are on my upcoming list. I'm glad you enjoyed Heroes and I hope you liked the other as well. I'll have to check out the Moriarty titles. Happy Reading this week!
I enjoyed What Alice Forgot and The Silent Sister, both very much. I haven't read any of the early Robyn Carr but sometimes authors revamp books and re-release them. I have mixed feelings about that. Makes for a good read but where do we draw the line in updating books? 10 years ago, 50? Enjoy your reads. I want to try Susan Elizabeth Phillips' new book and maybe some of her other ones.
ReplyDeleteI've got the Moriarty book on hold at the library. I can't wait to get it!!
ReplyDeleteThe book by Grace Burrowes sounds pretty good. Can't wait to see what you think about it. :)
