Piper Summers works like a dog juggling three jobs to put herself through veterinary school—driving taxis, delivering pizzas, and singing telegrams. Thankfully, Piper has her devoted dachshund Colin to help her keep things in line. That is, until she gets fired...and someone throws her a bone that is too good to resist.

Aiden Caldwell is an Armani ad come to life—a billionaire CEO who’s just adopted a dachshund from the rescue center where Piper volunteers. He’s hot on Piper’s tail to be his personal dog walker...but he may be after more than a walker for his wiener. The gorgeous, spirited Piper is everything he’s ever wanted from a woman—and more. But can Piper ever love, and trust, a man who has never learned to open his heart—or has she bitten off more than she can chew?

My thoughts banner
Must Love Wieners is the first in a series by Casey Griffin. It is a mixture of romance, mystery, danger, humour and dachshunds.

Piper has been working hard to become a vet, it has taken her eight years to make her way through the study and clinic work. She has become used to looking out for herself and finds it difficult to accept help from those who just might be able to give it. She runs a tightrope of a variety of money making jobs to make ends meet. Often she doesn't make ends meet and that puts her in the black books of her landlord.

Aiden is a wealthy young man who has taken over his father's business and is determined to make good. He also finds himself attracted to the feisty Piper and wants to help her in any way he can. He adopts Sophie from the dachshund rescue centre where Piper works. As it turns out Sophie is very good friends with Piper's dachshund Colin. These dogs might be small (Piper hides him when coming and going to her lodgings because you guessed it, no dogs allowed), but if they sense someone is bad they make great ankle biters.

Piper finds herself in a series of events - all of which endanger her life. Who is out to get her? One person or a whole flotilla? And just when it all gets too much she finds out Aiden might be involved too.

I enjoyed the read and liked the characters.  I found the final denouement all a little 'too much' to be believable, however it was a sweet ending and I certainly wish Piper all the best as she steps up to achieve as a vet. She has certainly earned it after all the terrible jobs she took on to achieve her goal.

  2. If I enjoy the story and the characters I can deal with an ending that's a little too much and this sounds great. Billionaires and dogs sound like a pretty great combination!

  3. I'm not a huge fan of the cringe worthy title of this novel, but the cover's cute and so is the synopsis! Really, really cute! I'm sorry that the ending pushed your 'belief' boundaries though, it bugs me when I contemporary does that too.

    1. I guess in terms of the characters and the money I might have made it more unrealistic than it was!

  5. The title of this book--MUST LOVE WIENERS-- cracks me up! Bravo to the author for having the guts to go with such a double meaning title. I do like the sound of Piper. She is so tenacious. Glad you enjoyed this story even if the ending was a bit contrived. =)
