"When I get a little money, I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes". ErasmusSo we come to the end of year accounting for reading books we bought since July 2016. How did you go? Even if you didn't make your goal still link up, this challenge was more about keeping an eye on ourselves - what we buy and what we actually read.
Here were the possibilities.
20% or less Money Sitting on the Shelf.
21 - 40% Making Inroads.
41 - 60 % Moderately Successful
61 - 80 % Maximising Returns
81 - 100% Mission Accomplished
My own goal was to read in the 61 - 80% range. In 2015 I only read 30% of what I bought, in 2016 I made it to 50%. Now in 2017 I have managed to go higher and better to the 70% line. I wanted to at least be at 65% so that is definitely a win and I am maximising returns!

There is a $25 Amazon voucher or books to that amount from the Book Depository if it delivers to your country for one participant out of those who link up to share how they got on. Even if you don't get to where you hoped you can still link up, so long as you bought a book during 2017 and joined the challenge! Either a link to your blog post, a link to a Goodreads shelf or a comment sharing how you did will count.
The challenge ends of December 31st. I will give until the 5th of January for people to link up and then I will draw a winner via random.org.
Great job, Kathryn!

ReplyDeleteWho’ll host Read the Books You Buy 2018?
ReplyDeleteAndrea I received this comment in my email but couldn't find it on the post, then the light bulb went on and I looked in my spam and found and rescued it. I am not going to host the Read the Books You Buy 2018, so I guess if anyone else wanted to take on the hosting its open for them to do so.
DeleteThanks for hosting the challenge! I managed to make some progress, although not sure of my percentage, so I'm happy.
ReplyDeleteI missed the lineup but my wrap up post is here: https://wp.me/p4cJzL-3jj
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the challenge and I am definitely going to try to read more of the books I buy in 2018
I also missed the linky...I met my goal. The challenge was a welcome reminder to read the books I had purchased and shelved.
