Dreamweaver Trail is #8 in the Eternity Springs novels set mainly in Colorado. I have loved every one of these novels and this one is no exception. The characters are wonderful, the plot kept me totally engaged and the settings were beautiful. Of course Celeste Blessing continues to be active and in the right place just when she is most needed. She channels that healing energy that Eternity Springs gives to those who approach.
This is Gabi's story, she is at a crossroads in her life, she is unsettled and not sure where her life is heading. Her past has left her somewhat broken; betrayed by her ex fiancé and still recovering from shooting to kill as a policewoman, Gabi is in search of a new direction. Now no longer a policewoman - she never wants to tote a gun again, Gabi takes on a job in the Caribbean caring for a Newfoundland puppy, Bismarck. (Bismarck plays a big role in this book, he too will know rejection, and show his courage and loyalty more than once.) In search of passion in her life Gabi comes across a glass blower's art on the island, she is fired up and just knows she wants to become involved - with the art not the man! She is ready to start dreaming big.
Flynn is the man Gabi meets in the Caribbean, a sexy, attractive, little bit of a nerd guy and also a little bit of a mystery. As the story unfolds it becomes apparent that he and Gabi have much in common. They begin to bond until one idyllic day they are driven apart by a shocking event. Flynn has never reached the point of sharing with Gabi his past, a past that has the paparazzi hounding him. Gabi returns home to Eternity Springs, Flynn - well he moves about but eventually ends up after a traumatic time, as a recluse on the outskirts of Eternity Springs.
I like the way the story alternates between the two characters so that most of the time as the reader you know what each character is experiencing, although we don't hear much of Flynn's experience when Gabi leaves the island, until he shares it with Gabi herself. The story ranges over quite a few months, giving time for change, growth, healing.
Dreamweaver Trail was a very satisfying read, at times horrifying, at times warm and heart touching. As well as a warrior woman heroine and a brave, tortured hero, there are all the past characters from Eternity Springs making brief appearances, and Cicero the master glass blower making a grand entry. He is sure to have an interesting past and the promise of a story in the future. Emily March - I just love her Eternity Springs novels.
