This is the first book in the Lear family series, and no doubt I will read or listen to the others as I will want to up date on the characters in this book.
Robin Lear as the heroine was in interesting character. Not your usual amazing, strong, female lead. She has been somewhat spoiled by her upbringing and in ways duped by her father and his chief CEO. She has the values of the rich, buy whatever you want, use the company jet whenever you feel like it, and buy shoes on a whim - expensive ones. She also works in the company and has always had it easy until her father throws her in the deep end. At first she flounders. Evan has been put in charge of supervising her as she works up her skills. He is a total snooty, self seeking individual.
Jake is the hero. The absolute opposite to Robin's father and Evan. He is hardworking and ultimately caring. He has what the other two men do not have, respect for Robin in spite of her various 'rich girl' tendencies. He sees her as a person, with value.
Two men from such different walks of life. May the better man win! Two families with their own faults, prejudices and strong points. Can two people from such different places in society find each other?
I really enjoyed this story, especially the growth of Robin, and the acceptance of each other that both Robin and Jake have. Natalie Ross narrated the story well and I think this was a book I appreciated more for the listening, than if I had merely just read it.
