Brown-Eyed Girl is the fourth book in Lisa Kleypas' Travis Family series. Like many readers I have awaited this promised novel, and looked forward to reading it.
This time it is Joe Travis' story, and along with him the woman he meets up with that proves to be his match. Avery runs a wedding business with her half sister Sofia. Along with a small staff they are very successful at what they do. Avery hasn't had the best of upbringings, has been left at the altar once and is not ready to trust her heart again. Can Joe change that? If he has anything to say about it he will.
The relationship of Avery and Sofia, plus Sofia's own story of attraction and possible romance, plus meeting up with many of the other Travis family members made this book a delightful read. Lisa Kleypas' writing hooked me in from the beginning and it seemed a short and easy read. I loved the comparison of one character's teeth as toilet-bowl white!
I liked Avery, her warm heart that opens to a dog that few others might have time for, plus the way she sorts out her goals and plans and hopes, weighing up what the world right now is offering her. I liked the way she made her choices and her values of truth over other things.
