It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone.
I love a Second Hand Book Fair. Recently our yearly one took place and $38 000 was raised for good causes. I donated about 100 books and I think I only bought 25 home on the day! It's a chance to gather up books of new authors and ones I may have seen recommended. Below a few of my choices!
What I read last week:
Enjoyed all four. The In Death series is just so good on audio.
What I am reading at present:
Listening to:
I am reading:
Up next:
Along An Infinite Sea by Beatriz Williams
Incapable by Ainslie Paton
Posts from the last week:
- The Good Neighbor Amy Sue Nathan
- The Diary of An Accidental Wallflower Jennifer McQuiston
- FitReaders Check In
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading.
Oh, great stack of books! I love the look of the Ahern book....and I want to read something else by Kate Morton.
ReplyDeleteLoved Smoke!
Enjoy your week.
Me too, Smoke was a very good read.
DeleteI always have to restrain myself at book sales so I don't bring home more than I donated! I am looking forward to Smoke.
ReplyDeleteI like Juliet Marillier but I haven't read Wolfskin or Foxmask yet. I hope you enjoy your new books! I don't buy very many print books anymore because I don't have shelf space.
ReplyDeleteI have read the Beatriz Williams book and I liked it. I love the cover of that Nora Roberts novel!
I love book fairs and used bookstores. always fun to find some treasure buried in the stacks or on the shelves. Looks like you found some good ones.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Hooray for second hand books! I always laugh when a book grabs my attention at the library book fair and then I realize it's because I donated it...
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your books this week and thanks for hosting!
Lindsey, I so identify! It happens to me too, I put my hand out and think... No! I put that one in.
DeleteHave you read any of Marillier's books before? I just love her work! Where'd You Go Bernadette is a lot of fun. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteJen I haven't read a Marillier book before but suspect once I do I'll want to keep going! Where'd You Go was indeed enormous fun, so glad I read it.
DeleteI loved book fairs, 25 books wow that is lots of books. Looks like you got some great books to read!
ReplyDeleteOh Kathryn... we have local fund raising booksales (for Lifeline - a community organisation) but it's usually organised by the library and they provide old books. It's never really occurred to me that I could try to offer some books as well. What a great idea! I'll look into it!
ReplyDeleteAt the moment books I don't want to keep go via my mum and her church friends to their op shop or the local women's shelter!
Deb sounds like your books already go to very good causes. These books are very good condition. I go into the $3 to $4 a book room! They are all ones that either are new or read once. I have graduation from the $1 paperback room!
DeleteYou donated more than you brought home so that is a good thing. I loved Garwood's older historical romances and should try to find time to read from my collection of her books.
ReplyDeleteI agree the In Death series is great on audio. Happy Reading (and Listening)!
Love book fairs too and well done on your restraint with the books you brought home lol. Ooh the pressure, hope you love Wolfskin. Barbara Erskine and Kate Morton, 2 more of my favourite authors. If you ever see Lady of Hay by Barbara Erskine, grab it ... it's one of my books to be buried with haha. I loved The Forgotten Garden, it's a slow build though. Can't believe Ainslie has another new book out, seems like only a few months since the last. Looking forward to reviews this week. Happy reading Kathryn :)
ReplyDeleteSheree, no pressure! I am sure I'll love Wolfskin as I enjoy fantasy. I know Ainslie is amazing - works full time and from what I can tell pretty full on. Then writes amazing books, she has a voice like no other romance writer and I just so jell with her writing.
DeleteWohoo new books! I am all jealous
ReplyDeleteI love secondhand book sales, too! Enjoy!

Awesome titles from the book fair.
ReplyDeleteOh my....I see The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. That is one of my all-time favorite books. LOVED that book.
ENJOY all of your books.
Have a wonderful new week. I can't believe it is Monday again already.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
My library has a big used book sale every year and my goal is always to donate more than I buy. You did very well!
ReplyDeleteThe Forgotten Garden was so good and my daughter loved Belong to Me.
Bernadette is one of my favorites! Glad you enjoyed it! And - thanks for taking over the meme!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds at the book sale! Wasn't Bernadette a fun read?
ReplyDeleteSure was Mary, why did I wait!
DeleteI love a used book sale! It looks like you made out! I will have to check out Marilier.
ReplyDeleteI love a used book sale! It looks like you made out! I will have to check out Marilier.
ReplyDeleteOur library's book sale was this past week. I thought about dropping in on my way home from church yesterday, but they weren't open yet and the line to get in stretched all the way down to Gamestop. So I sadly passed. Looks like you found some great books, though!
ReplyDeleteYou have been reading some good books. I too am a Nora Roberts (J.D. Robb) fan. I stalled a long time before picking up the J.D. Robb books, but I am glad I did.
ReplyDeleteI love a good book sale!! Looks like a great haul, too!! And you read some good ones last week. I'm curious about the new Roberts book. Happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteA used book sale is always fun! At least you got rid of more than you brought home - that's a win! We need to do a big donation soon.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed The Forgotten Garden. And I have enjoyed Marisa de los Santos' novels - she is a local author here in Delaware (rare for our small state!). Hope you enjoyed Where'd You Go Bernadette - I did!
Enjoy your books this week -
Sue
Book By Book
Sue, nice to have a local author in Delaware, means book signings etc. Where'd You Go Bernadette was great.
DeleteI love how you gave to the book fair but also found some goodlooking reads. I added Erskine's and March's book to my TBR. I have read your audiobook. I gave it four stars; it was good.
ReplyDeleteI love the In Death series but have read them, not listened to them. I may have to give that a try. Is it the same reader throughout the series? Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSame amazing narrator. Voices for them all, awesome. I have some paperback copies and the rest I'll read by audio, so good!
DeleteI received Along The Infinite Sea last week. I didn't read the first two books in the series, but may jump into this one. I've read positive comments about it. Your book exchange sounds like a great yearly event to look forward to. Have a great week Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteWhat! Ooops Pat, didn't realise it was part of series, but jumping into it anyway!!
DeleteWow your local book fair was a great success. I'm sure they really appreciated your donation. I hope you enjoy all your new books. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to wish that I could read so many books in a week, but I've come to the conclusion that the harder I push myself to read more, the less I actually enjoy reading :( I only finished one last week and am reading IT this week (Stephen King).
ReplyDeleteYour lovely book pile looks so enticing! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGreat reads Girlfriend. I just finished a June 2016 release that Harlequin wanted an early review for, and right now I'm deep into a late November release by Mingmei Yip, The Witch's Market.
ReplyDeleteYour'e swinging right ahead with your reading Debbie, will enjoy your reviews when they publish.
DeleteWhat an amazing amount to raise! I hope you didn't come back with a 100 books?
ReplyDeleteVery tempting to come back with 100, but I still have books from last years fair!!
DeleteI've heard a lot of interesting things about Smoke. I'm going to have to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteI love a great used book sale. The possibilities! :) It sounds like you did great moving out more than you brought it.
ReplyDelete*in.
DeleteI love love love Wolfskin. So good!!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read Where'd you go, Bernadette and The Forgotten Garden. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteYay for the book fair! That's awesome how much was raised!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a LONG while since I've read a Nora Roberts novel - I loved her sooo much while I was in the university ages back. :)
