Blog Hop

Billy from  Ramblings of a Coffee Addict blog has relaunched the Book Blogger Hop. Each week the hop will start on Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt just like before. The hop’s purpose will remain the same as it will give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week's question:
So would you read a book just because of the hype?

Very rarely would I read a book just because of the hype.  I would look at who is recommending the book?  Are they someone I respect as a reader or like as an author.  If I do, then I may give it a try.  If no one I know is recommending the book, then I will make my own decision based on a number of readers and also what the book is about.

  3. I agree...I don't read it unless I know I will like it. I am not a "follow the crowd" girl.

  4. That's good that you can make your own decisions and not have to be influenced by the hype.

  6. It's a really good thing that you don't allow yourself to be influenced by the hype. You must be one of those people who can resist sales pitches, too. I usually try to be a little discerning, but, in at least one case, 'the hype monster' got to me! Lol.

Actually, I think that hype DOES play an important function in getting readers -- including me -- interested in certain books. But I can tell you that, in some cases, NO amount of hype is going to get me interested in a book, if I don't like the plot OR the format! I don't read e-books, for instance.

Love your answer! Happy Reading!! :)

  7. I agree with you now; I stated in my post that I'm now familiar with bloggers whose taste runs the same as mine, and I take their recs to heart.
