Billy from Ramblings of a Coffee Addict has relaunched the Book Blogger Hop. Each week the hop will start on Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt just like before. The hop’s purpose will remain the same as it will give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week's topic:
How do you organise the books you are going to read?
As yet, I don't organise the books I read to any great extent. I am on Goodreads and that helps me to know what I have read and want to read - and indeed what I could read. I keep a wish list at Amazon and Audible as well. Generally the actual books on a shelf in my house are separated out into read and unread, but sometimes they get mixed.
On NetGalley I keep an eye on what is being published when, and factor that in when it is relevant. After that, I say to myself - what do I feel like reading next? Sometimes it is a paperback, sometimes it is an ebook on my kindle. Sometimes if I have read a book that I was not that keen on, I read an author's book that I am sure to like. If I have read a romance then sometimes I feel like a suspense or women's fiction.
If it is a book I am really waiting for to be published, I read it as soon as it is in my hand. For example when Diana Gabaldon's next book, Written In My Own Heart's Blood is published in 2014, I will buy it straight away and open it up immediately!

You sound more organized than I am.
ReplyDeleteOh me too!
ReplyDeleteKeeping a virtual list helps too.
ReplyDeleteFriday's post
My problem with keeping a virtual list is that I'd forget about it. I wish I could be as organized as you!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! =)
Very similar to me :)
ReplyDeleteMine is here: http://bakeysbookblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/book-blogger-hop-july-26th-august-1st.html
I do have an Amazon Wishlist but that's more a place where I save all my ridiculously expensive book desires! I should probably try to use Goodreads more, it would help! Thanks for sharing :)

Good organizing. I like something concrete so I use an Excel spreadsheet.
ReplyDeleteTHANKS for stopping by my blog earlier.
Happy Hopping!!

My Blog Hop Answer
Goodreads helps me remember some books that I have my eye on but haven't bought yet, as well as some that have unfortunately fallen lower on my want to read list. (That's not what I thought I would use it for when I first signed up! I thought it would be more of an immediate TBR list) So my attempt to be organized failed. Netgalley intrigues me, but when I look at all the books I have to read, I stop myself from going out in search of more.
ReplyDeleteYou're much better organized than I am - my TBR pile is actually a pile! And not much more organized than that! :)
ReplyDeleteKathryn, I also use Goodreads and love it. I do need a better organisation system though :(

Hi, Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think you're somewhere in between organized and disorganized. Well, that's great! It shows that you're relaxed about the whole thing; you do tend to read whatever fits your mood, and yet, you do have some type of organization.
I find Goodreads to be very helpful, as well. I should put all of the books I have here at home on my GR shelves. That would certainly help! But oh, what a time-consuming project THAT would be....
I don't have anything on NetGalley because I detest e-books. So that's out.
Anyway....hope you enjoy all your reads, whether organized or not! And thanks for dropping by and commenting on my BBH post!! : )
