Author Interaction and More Than Just Words.

Armchair BEA

Author Interaction:

My recent favourite moment was when Marie Force, author of a series that I really enjoy tweeted me, after she had obviously been to my blog and read my review of her latest book in the Fatal series - Fatal Jeopardy.  I had said that the book was short! It sure felt like it, I read it so quickly.

I have interacted with a few authors by email, but generally I haven't interacted that much. I will be looking forward to reading other bloggers' tips about this.

More Than Just Words

I really enjoy listening to audiobooks, I find that many a book is enhanced by listening to it in audio.  Sometimes even a book that might be ho hum if I merely read it, is brought alive by a narrator.  However on the other side of the coin, sometimes a narrator can totally ruin a book.  If I love the author I wait until there are reviews up, and then I can gauge what others are saying. There are reviewers out there that I trust.

Books that I have enjoyed in the last year in audio format are:

11.22.69

A series I have read and listened to almost all the audiobooks in it is the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.  The narrator Davina Porter is outstanding and brings the books alive with each character having their own voice.

It will be interesting to see the TV series of the first book.  Well it might be, no New Zealand TV company has bought the series yet.  Laggards.  Australia SoHo TV is to be congratulated they were early in on the scene as was the USA.

  1. Haha! That's how you know a book is good if it seems short while being long! I'll have to definitely look into that series.

  3. It really is nice when an author tweets back. A few authors I know are also book bloggers and also like to get out there and promote books not their own, which I find really nice...team work! Will check out the audios for the Outlander series. A great reader is key to making the experience a good one...they need to blend with the story!
