Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
Hope you all had a great week. I read mostly, but also joined a knitting group, we are knitting a nativity set for a raffle for our local school later in the year. Discovered knitting and listening to an audiobook works well! Went out to lunch and went to my niece's 40th birthday party. The housework still mostly awaits, amazing when I have all day but.... I have organised for better insulation in the roof and a heat pump for the coming winter. I like a wood burner but don't want that going all day. Although that said we had another very pleasant hot week.
What I read last week:
Was okay.
Excellent short stories set in colonial New Zealand
Audiobook enjoyed.
Loved this second in the series.
Audiobook version
Powered through this one.
So annoyed I can't access the next two in
series in audio because of world rights!
What I am reading at present:
The Arrangement by Mary Balogh - #2 in Survivor series
The Martian by Andy Weir in audiobook form.
Up next:
Never Too Late by Robyn Carr
Before The Storm by Diane Chamberlain
House Broken by Sonja Yoerg
Before The Storm by Diane Chamberlain
House Broken by Sonja Yoerg
Winner of One Wish by Robyn Carr
Suko from Suko's Notebook Congratulations.
Posts from the last week:
By Bread Alone Sarah-Kate Lynch
White Balance Ainslie Paton
The Luckiest Lady in London Sherry Thomas
Trust No One Jayne Anne Krentz
The Last Time I Was Me Cathy Lamb
All of these are new to me! I will have to check them out!

If you like fantasy then the Anne Bishop book I highly recommend!
DeleteKathryn, I'm keen to read some Diane Chamberlain. I'd never heard of her until a lot of US bloggers talked about The Silent Sister. She sounds like an author I'd like!!!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Like you Deb I have only found out about her from other bloggers. I enjoyed The Silent Sister. The one I have in this post has a follow up to it so will see.
DeleteI'm going to have to look into "The Settling Earth" I love short story collections!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very good. Normally I am not a short story reader.
DeleteMy comment disappeared. The chamberlain book is a new one for me
ReplyDeleteOops! You mean the blog ate the comment!! Oh dear. I haven't read that many DC books, this one is from back in 2008.
DeleteI knew you would get to The Martian before me, can't wait to see what you think! And I've got Before the Storm and The Secrets She Left Behind still to read, I've been reading Diane Chamberlain for years but I never seem to get through her backlist before a new book is out lol.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to knit better than I do but that's something that will have to wait until my hands feel normal again. I can basic knit in a square but I'd love to be able to follow a pattern. Audiobook and knitting sounds perfect ... way more appealing than audiobook and walking haha. Have a wonderful week and happy reading :)
Well I was a bit bored to be honest by the start of The Martian. Hope it picks up. I got both these DC books at the local book fair last year. Have only been reading her since last year. Blogging does that to a reader!
DeleteKnitting would not help your hands at present. I learned to knit as a youngster, but gave it up in recent years because who wears wool knits anymore in this age of lighter fibres and merino. Anyway just about finished a shepherd! Might end up being expensive because wool these days is not cheap.
I would like to read The Martian but have no idea when I can possibly get to it. I also enjoy knitting, and Diane Chamberlain is an author I really want to read. Happy reading....and knitting!
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of the short stories set in New Zealand. I've enjoyed every Diane Chamberlain I've read so far. Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Trust No One...and I am excited to see another Diane Chamberlain for me to check out! Love her books. Enjoy your week....and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteDiane Chamberlain is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWritten in Red caught my eye. Will have to find out more about this series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
I need to try the first in the Survivors Club. I tried book 4 I think it was but it was too far into the series for me and I had a hard time getting into it. But I want to go back to the beginning and start there. I think it's one I'll enjoy when read in order :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Suko. Your knitting project sounds wonderful. I can imagine it would be enjoyable to listen to a book at the same time. Were looking at getting extra insulation for our high ceiling in our living room. Good luck getting yours done. I've enjoyed Diane Chamberlian in the past and read positive reviews about the Martian. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading such rave reviews for the Anne Bishop books. I may need to hunt them down. You are listening on audio? Love the Survivor series. I hope you share pictures of the knitted nativity, I would love to see it. Have a great week.

DeleteJust catching up on comments! Yes listened to audio and was hooked in by those rave reviews. It's fantasy and loved it. Loving the Survivor series too. Will share a pic of Nativity set once we have it completed. I have to sew up my shepherd and suddenly I have slowed, prefer the knitting to the sewing up!!
I hope you are enjoying your reads this week,
