It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!
Happy New Year

It seems ages since the last It's Monday post, even though it's only been a week. But plenty of time for reading, visiting those 1st books of the year posts and getting organised with challenges.

Fitreaders. I met my goal of 55 000 steps for the week. Hot weather meant early morning or beach walking, but summer weather is there to enjoy, so no complaining!   Signed up again for 2016.

What I read last week:

book cover book cover book cover
Will be reviews for Rustler's Moon and Wolfskin later. Liked my first taste of Ilona Andrews and so... another author to add to my list of want to read more.

What I am reading at present:

Listening to:

My first Karen White book and **** it, just accidentally saw a spoiler, even though was sort of predicting something like that could happen. I still didn't want to see it written in front of me.

Reading:

Just starting, never read this author either before. Couldn't resist the cover on NetGalley!

Up next:

The Raging Light   Estelle Laure   (Another new author)
Strangers in Death  J. D. Robb

Posts from the last week:

Anything For You  Kristan Higgins    Review and Giveaway for U.S. Readers. Highly recommend.

  1. Starting with Burn For Me was a great choice. While you are waiting for the next book in the series, pick up the first in the Magic series. You won't be sorry! Congrats on meeting your step goal! Have a great week.

    1. Yes Nise, I didn't realise there would be a wait for the next one, so want it now! So I am going to go with the Magic series and can get the first couple of those on audiobook.

  2. I look forward to your thoughts on Wolfskin. I haven't read that one yet. I enjoyed some of her older books like the Bridei Chronicles, Daughter of the Forest and Cybele's Secret.

I hate when I accidentally come across spoilers! I hope you are able to enjoy the book anyway. Congratulations on reaching your fitness goal for the week. I am participating in FitReaders for 2016 too. I really hope I can lose some weight and get fit this year so I won't feel so tired all the time!

    1. I will certainly be reading more of Marillier's books for sure. Will finish the duology first and then on to another of her series.

  5. Ilona Andrews is one of those authors I come across all the time but have yet to read...

Currently I'm listening to Lair of Dreams (Diviners #2) on audio, reading Under the Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis on my kindle and reading Euphoria in print for book club at the library. Have a fantastic reading week!

    1. Thanks Kate. Yes I am just getting to Ilona Andrews. So hard to get to all those authors I hear about. Love JS books and haven't read that one.

  6. I enjoyed Falling Home...It's been a while since I read it, so I don't remember the spoiler...too bad.

Enjoy your new books...and the new week. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Yes noticed you had read this one and it's follow up, which is great because Goodreads gives me an idea of what other readers who have similar taste though about a book.

  9. Ooh, hot weather sounds nice. We've been warmer than usual but we're dipping down into real January temperatures now. I hate cold weather, but I have to admit it was getting a little too weird to have spring-like temps at Christmas time. Enjoy your week!

  10. 55,000 steps for a week?! Good job. I am lucky to make 35,000. But then again that is without doing any walking other than everyday walking. I need to step it up this year. :-)
You have a nice selection of books. Hope you enjoy.

  11. It looks like you had a good reading week. It is always nice to find new authors to add to your list to read. We will never run out of authors to read!!

  12. Strangely spoilers don't affect my reading a book. If it's a story I'd enjoy I go for it.

    1. That's a great spirit to have Mystica! I guess I still keep reading, but I like the plot to unfold without my knowing - although that said I can be a bit of a back page reader!!!

  15. It really does seem like last Monday was ages ago... feels like the week has gone on forever! Sorry to hear about the spoiler, and I would have have chosen Hearth Song for the cover, too. It's so pretty! Have a good week, Kathryn :)

  16. Ooooh! Morning walks on the beach! Sounds fantastic. And I was just bragging about our balmy 20 degree weather here in MN.

  20. Poo to whoever gave the spoiler! I hate it when that happens (although if I've already guessed, I do feel a bit of smug vindication too sometimes).

  21. I hope you have a wonderful new year!

  22. I could have seen myself doing something like on the cover of Falling Home, if my family hadn't moved from a small town area to a good-sized city. This is my 2nd week in a row here, which is pretty much a record. But I've developed the habit of starting the next week's post as soon as the current one is sent, so hopefully you'll 'see' a lot more of me this year! :O)

  23. I like Karen White as an author. Yeah...spoilers can ruin books. Hope you still enjoy reading it though.

  24. Happy New Year!

I haven't read any of the authors you read last week - always new books to discover!

Hope you enjoy your books this week...and the start of the new year!

Can't wait for your review of Wolfskin...loved your video, and it looks so good.

  27. Burn for me is actually the one I have liked least by her

  28. I've decided to pick #FitReader back up this year; I failed miserably at it last year, although I haven't set my goal, yet. I loved Falling Home and wanted After the Rain so badly after, but I still haven't had the chance to read it. Even with the spoiler you had (I hate it when that happens), you should give it a go; it is so good.

  29. I thought Burn For Me was a lot of fun, and passed it on to my 16 year old. He thought it was great as well, although he somehow did not bring the book to school with him while he read it.

  30. Oh man. Boo on the spoiler! I was just having a chat with someone about those.
