It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Met my goals - just as you can see!
The summer weather continues to be... well hot! It seems to me like we are having what I used to think of as Australian weather. I think they are having weather that is even hotter than they once had. I totally now believe in global warming.
Apart from that not doing much. We had extended family around over the weekend as we celebrated a mother/daughter 50th/21st. And even better newly minted trained nurse of the 21st vintage, just got notified of being accepted for a job.
In the home renovation front, handles for the kitchen cabinets turned up -minus any screws! Trips back to the shop found no fitting screws, so now waiting for the manufacturer to send me some. Nothing is straight forward!
What I read last week:
All worth reading for sure. Reviews to follow. I finished Driftwood Cottage and enjoyed it although won't be reviewing it here. Will most definitely be reading more of Patti Callahan Henry.
What I am reading at present:
Just starting to read:
Will begin listening to this. After spending a few hours hovering over books I couldn't decide I was in the mood for or not! Totally new author to me.
Posts from the last week:
Who's Afraid Maria LewisAnother Love Amanda Prowse
Year of Yes Shonda Rhimes
Loved Brotherhood in Death. Hope to get to Debbie Macomber's book. Hope the knobs get sorted out soon. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI am curious about the book you are currently reading. The Susan Meissner book looks good too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a break from the heat. Send it my way! It was freezing here this week though it may warm up by Friday and hopefully melt the snow.
I'm looking forward to reading Flight of Dreams. The Butterfly Summer looks good too. Enjoy your reading week - and keep cool!
ReplyDeleteLots of celebrations at your end - glad they all went well.
ReplyDeleteHow did you find Brotherhood in Death - in terms of reading out of order? From memory there wasn't too much involvement from some of the usual peripheral characters so not too many spoilers!?
Yeah I don't think it mattered too much reading out of order. Possibly the earlier books were important to read in order. Looking forward to going back and catching up on Trueheart's rise through the ranks!
DeleteHaving the opposite weather here in Montreal, Canada! I've read good things about Flight of Dreams. Susan Meissner is a good author. Hope you love both books!
ReplyDeleteThe Ramblers cover is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathryn, I admire your DIY approach to renovation - that takes resourcefulness and tenacity. The Butterfly Summer and The Ramblers caught my eye - they look like very interesting reads.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and hope you had a great get together. I'm looking forward to warm weather as we're so cold here, but it's no fun when it's too hot too! I hope your temps moderate a bit to comfortable levels.
ReplyDeleteGlad your books were good and hope this week is as good. :)
I love Debbie macomber books. Look forward to seeing what you think of it! Have you read the blossom street series by her? Great series, I am hoping to reread the series this year.
ReplyDeleteGood job meeting those goals! You have been doing well in your reading. I especially like the looks of both your current reads. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteFlight of Dreams is on my wish list...and so is Driftwood Summer. I enjoy both authors. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt's been hot down here in Invercargill, too. Though it's raining right now so hopefully that's broken it - I'm not a fan of extreme heat! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job meeting your goals. I know for one I can't wait for winter to be over here in MI.

I've heard good things about Ariel Lawhon's book. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteMissing everyone, hope to get back to it in the next week or 2 ... the specialist did not exaggerate. Sadly I haven't picked up a book in 2 weeks. The heat here is revolting, even the pool feels like a bath :(
ReplyDeleteWay to go with meeting your goals, I won't mention mine lol. Have a great week, hope the fittings for your handles arrive quick smart and enjoy your new reads :)
So great to hear you, hope the recuperation is going well, that is the important thing at the moment. Who cares about steps! We were 32 C today, I am nearly dead! Yuck not even a cool pool for you. I was thinking maybe I should live at night and snooze in the day but I guess that wouldn't really work. Missing you, be better soon.
DeleteSounds like you had a lot to celebrate, except the hot weather and missing screws. Thanks for sharing your steps. My FitBit defaulted to 10,000/da as a goal. I've reached that on some days, but I'm averaging only 6,500. It is winter here so I am not out and about as much. I hope to keep increasing my monthly average. Sometimes in the summer here it is too hot to go out too.
ReplyDeleteI just added The Ramblers to my wish list last week and am also looking forward to Flight of Dreams... loved the authors first novel! Sounds like a pretty special birthday/new job celebration.
ReplyDeleteYay! Congrats to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteThe hot muggy weather is driving me nuts, Im ready for Summer to be over! Congrats on your celebration!
ReplyDeleteIm interested to see learn what you think of Flight of Dreams.
Have a great week,
Shelleyrae @ Book'd Out
Congrats - lots to celebrate! I miss the warm weather, but I don't think I'm ready for that hot of weather. Although we were in the negative temps this past weekend with the wind chill, so I'd take some summer weather right about now. :)
ReplyDeleteIt has been years since I read a JD Robb book. I should try one again.
Hope you have a great week!
This has been a very warm year!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy the Meissner. I really liked it when I read it last year and just got her newest one about old time Hollywood to add to my tbr stacks. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the new nurse!!
ReplyDeleteNice family gathering.
You had a great reading week...I need to check out The Ramblers. I keep seeing it everywhere.
I will be looking to see your thoughts on Flight of Dreams.
ENJOY your reading week.

Ooo, shiny zeppelin...!
ReplyDeleteWe're having April weather in Arizona, though it seems much of the US is still pretty cold. I am not complaining. April is the best time of the year. I'll take two, please.
Oh boy you have had mischievous little hardware poking your sanity yeah? It's been mid 70's here with this supposedly typical bout of warm weather February brings the Bay Area.
ReplyDeleteI'd melt there!
ReplyDeleteAll the books that you mention are new to me.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Here is My It’s Monday!
Practically all are new to me. The J D Robb book interested me very much and I have requested it. Hope to get it.
ReplyDeleteDriftwood Summer looks so nice and summery. I will have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteKeep cool and safe during your heat wave! Sorry about the trials and tribulations of home renovation; it's a tough thing to live through.
ReplyDeleteDriftwood Summer looks like a nice fit, as we in SoCal are having crazy warm, unseasonable weather at the moment.
I'm also interested in The Ramblers as I'm originally from NY and love books & movies that honor the city as its own main character (like in the movie, When Harry Met Sally, for instance). Enjoy your week.
I received two bookmarks from Debbie Macomber last week as a thank you for the Christmas card I sent her, and I am looking forward to reading JD Robb. COngrats on meeting your goals!!
