It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Hello to you all. Hope your week was interesting and life filled. I did my usual things, still big learning curve with sewing, I am going to a start going to a quilt class on Tuesday evening, rather nervous because my skills aren't quite up to the Teddy Bear quilt being made, but I want to do it!
I had a friend spend all day Sunday with me, so that was really great, while being generally a person who likes a lot of alone time, friend time too is a wonderful addition to life.
I haven't watched a lot of TV, because I turn off all blue light screen emitting devices more than an hour before bed it limits my viewing time. I am enjoying the Australian drama A Place to Call Home. Great acting and scenery.
I have watched the news and like most I suspect been horrified by the fires in Canada, what shocking destruction.
What I read last week:
I enjoyed both of the above. Claire Delacroix was a very delightful audiobook and The Coincidence of Coconut Cake from my recent TBR. Enjoyed that read too. No reviews coming for either!
This was a She Reads book club selection and a review most likely this coming week.
What I am reading at present:
I am loving this, although has become a slow read as I spend time on the sewing machine!
And listening to at present:
#4 of Mary Balogh's Survivor Club series.
Always nice to spend a day with a friend. Love the Survivor series. Dear Think looks interesting. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI love historical fiction so The Renegade's Heart caught my eye. I'll have to look out for your review of All of Us and Everything. Enjoy your reading week and your sewing!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with quilting class! I hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI liked The Coincidence of Coconut Cake quite a lot. Glad you liked it too.
I like the look of Dear Thing....enjoy your reading and sewing, and thanks for hosting this event. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your quilting class, sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteJulie Cohen looks like a interesting read. Never heard of the author.
Glad you had a nice Sunday with a friend, those kind of days are always nice. I've only watched one Australian show that I know of, but it was filmed in a coastal area and it was beautiful. The gold Coast area I think it was. A lot of the shows I watch are Canadian or English productions and they seem to be pretty good.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your quilting class and hope it's fun! :)
I agree that we have been watching the fire in Canada and praying for the situation.
ReplyDeleteI hope turning off the devices is helping your sleep.
I also hope you have fun at your quilting and sewing.
Thanks for reminding me about the Survivor's Club on audio - I added book 5 to my wish list and I am thinking about getting it this month.
Happy reading and sewing this week!
I just watched our Logie Awards Kathryn and noted that A Place Called Home was nominated for several awards. It's got some great actors in it!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about friends... I love my alone time but time with good friends can be really nourishing sometimes!
THanks to all who mentioned their concerns and prayers for those in fires in Western Canada - very needed!
ReplyDeleteYour book lineup looks great, Kathryn - EnJoy!
Have a great week, read a lot :)
ReplyDeleteI have All of Us and Everything coming up and on my post today, too. I've put it off for so long; I think it's time to dust it off and read it. You have a great week of reading ahead of you.
ReplyDeleteYour books look so...well, delicious! Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteAll of your books look so good. When We Were Sisters really looks like a book I'd enjoy. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover of your current read and glad to hear you're enjoying it. The cover of the Coconut Cake book looks delicious...most readers seem to have enjoyed that one. Good luck with your quilting class!
ReplyDeleteDear Thing looks so interesting!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like I've heard of "When We Were Sisters", and I love the cover of "Only Enchanting".
ReplyDeleteA quilt class sounds fun! I hope you enjoy going. I love my alone time too, but sometimes a little time with friends is just what we need. Enjoy your book this week!
ReplyDeleteWhen We Were Sisters looks interesting. I also want to read Dear Thing. Happy reading and good luck with your quilting class.
ReplyDeleteThe fires in Canada are very devastating. My heart goes out to all involved.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice reading week as well as a friend and quilting/sewing week for you.
ENJOY this week...the coconut book is definitely catching my eye.

My It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Time spent with friends is so special! Glad you got some :) It was Mother's Day weekend here, so family time for us but lots of fun & laughs.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the book, but the coconut cake on that cover looks delicious!
Glad you read some good books last week - enjoy your books this week, too!

Book By Book
I came over from Lakeside Musings to say hi. I might join in with your What Are Your Reading Mondays theme soon.
ReplyDeleteYou'd be very welcome Terra.
DeleteI've heard a lot of benefits regarding turning off devices an hour or so before you go to bed - I keep meaning to start that but then I get sucked into blogging or shows etc.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful covers on the books you've shared. Happy reading!!
Reading With Jade
Jade I am trialling it until end of May, although I have to say I can already see the benefits. It is a pain not to watch TV but well... sleep needs are first. I used to be a big computer person too at night especially when I was working. But now goes off around evening meal time!
DeleteI am now officially linked up for the first time. Thanks again for stopping by my blog and for hosting this meme.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had some great friend time. That is always fun. The book about the sisters sounds good; added that. Have fun w/the quilting class. It sounds like a cool experience.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the quilting! I'd love to learn and desperately want a book quilt but fear my skills may never be up to it. Coconut Cake is on my TBR and I love Emilie Richards! I really need to read some of her newer books and Mary Balogh's as well. Two favorite authors I'm seriously neglecting!
