It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 25th July

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

I finished two books this week which is on the low side for me. I had other things on plus you know.... sewing. Although this week it was mainly ripping and a little swearing as I ripped out some quilting and if anyone has done that it is not pretty and hard on all the layers of fabric. All done though now.

We've had wild weather here and lots of wind. Strong wind. Very strong wind! It is quiet as I type here now in the morning but I think they are saying strong winds later on again.

What I read last week:

Enjoyed both of these and reviews will be posted later.

What I am reading at present:

I seem to be dawdling a bit over this one, must spend a bit of time and get it read!
Also still listening to my J. D. Robb audiobook.

  1. My paperback copy of I Found You is due to arrive tomorrow. There were no e-books available here...but now and then, I love a print book.

I have been eyeing Beth Harbison's books, and One Less Problem Without You looks tempting. Enjoy your week!

  2. We had quite a wind and thunder storm too. But other than that just hot and muggy. I just read The Girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell this week, and based on that I would definitely read more of her stuff. I Found You sounds quite good, and love the cover.

  3. I hope you stay save in the winds. I Found You looks interesting. Hope the quilting is back on track - no more ripping.
    Have a great week.

  4. Hi Kathryn! I love love love this opportunity to share what I'm reading! I am going to start posting IMWAYR on my blog. However, where do I share that link, and where do I comment to other bloggers who are also participating?

    1. Amye just above you will see the Add Your Link that you click on and put in the details of your post. Then as you can see there are a number of readers who have linked just about that little blue bar. All the best.

  5. I'm also going to be reading One Less Problem Without You, received through Netgalley. I hope it's a good one!

Too bad about the quilting! I don't do it, but I've seen enough to know it's labor and time intensive, but don't fret about it. You will get it taken care of again.

    Have a great week!

  6. I really want to read the Lisa Jewells book which I've heard good things about and did look at Belgravia but I've never seen Downton so I thought maybe it's not for me. Enjoy your sewing. Emma

  8. For some reason, I'm really drawn to that Belgravia cover. I still haven't finished Downton Abbey, so maybe I should do that first.

  9. Ugh, the dreaded frogging of crafts... I hope you were able to get everything ripped out. I feel for you.

  10. The one from the author of Downton Abbey looks interesting. I can only sew catnip mats with my sewing machine, I would never be able to do anything detailed.

  11. I've been waiting to read reviews of Belgravia. Will watch for your thoughts on it. I'm not much of a sewer although my mother is and she can make such beautiful things.

  12. Great choices Kathryn I have Beth Harbison's on my pile and I want to start JR Ward's new series. Right now I'm reading for review Lori Fosters Don't Tempt Me which I'm showcasing tomorrow on her release day. Happy Week to you!

  13. I really need to catch up on my Lisa Jewell books and I still have the firs in the J.R. Ward series to read. The Widow really looks good.

I always hated when I had to rip any seam out, and I was thinking the other day of getting some new fabric (I have to get it online because of very few fabric stores here) for garment sewing for the upcoming school year.

  15. Never ripped out a quilt but I have ripped out sewing and it's a pain. Hope you have no more ripping to do. :)

    Enjoy your reads,

  16. What a terrific week for you.

I didn't get too much done. Still too sad around here.

    Have a wonderful week.

  17. I've added the J.R. Ward series to my TBR. I love the cover for the newest one! Belgravia and The Widows both look good. Stay inside away from that wind!

  18. Do you usually read multiple books at a time or just one at a time? I added The Bourbon Kings' first book. I didn't know J.R. Ward wrote modern day; I thought she just wrote supernatural/fantasy. I finished one book during the week. I'll work on my post after my run.

  19. I've always enjoyed Beth Harbison's novels, especially for something light and fun, so I may need to pick this one up! Thanks for hosting the link up, as always!

  20. Two books in one week would be a lot for me! And I am jealous of your weather cooling down there at this time of year - the temperature has been up near 100 F here the past week!

    Enjoy your books this week!

  21. Sewing is not my forte. I spend more time unpicking than actually sewing. Most of my sewing projects end up in a cupboard and forgotten about.

I've read mixed reviews about Belgravia but I'm looking forward to reading it.

  22. The few times I've tried to sew, most of my time was spent "ripping out and swearing," so I'm right there with you!

  23. Thank you, Kathryn. I kept seeing pins saying how it's only an hour of one's day so I'm forcing myself to get my cardio on more. The drains I'm supposed to do that once a month. It helps clean out the soap scum.

  24. Wow, I've never linked up this late before and hadn't realised there were so many linkers. It also made me realise I check out the blogs of those who link early and perhaps I should start from the end sometime.

I've seen the Lisa Jewell book on a few blogs and am intrigued, but haven't seen it anywhere else! Must have a look on NG when my pile diminishes a little.
