It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
During the week I followed a link from a random tweet to find someones most read authors according to Goodreads. Of course that only tracks what you've entered since joining but it was fascinating and I might have had a peek at some of my friends on Goodreads too. Find the stat at the bottom of your bookshelves on your My Books page. Here's mine! Obviously Nora Roberts writes an enormous amount of books, so I guess not surprising to see her at the top of my list. Who is at the top of yours?
Hope you all had a good week. I might have lit the fire a couple of times as the beginnings of winter has begun to show its face.
What I read last week:
I finished reading this library book, a fun romance from Kristan Higgins.
A review book.... this doesn't publish until July so will be a little while before I post a review.
From recently bought books... a military romance, I like Jessica Scott's books, they are very realistic, no doubt due to her own experience.
I finished listening to the following book. I enjoyed it, felt it concluded satisfactorily and the narrator Amy Rubinate was great.
And another off the long time TBR shelf
a story of being 45 years old and finding you aren't living the life that makes you happy.
What I am reading at present:
I am now listening to...
Reading for review
Now I must check out my Goodreads page to see what is listed.
ReplyDeleteI have the Wendy Wax book, and hope to read it soon. Thanks for sharing.
Before I Fall and Not A Sound sound great. I've been wanting to read Not A Sound but forgot to buy it. It sounds SO dark. Looking forward to your review. I hope it turns out great.
ReplyDeleteI need to do the goodreads research. I don't use GR much often just to update ratings. It's so fun to know which authors we read the most. :)
I hope you have a wonderful week. :)
Ah getting to be time for that fire huh? Yeah it's starting to warm up here after a pretty lackluster April and half of May. Hope your weather is nice this week. :)
ReplyDeletethere's so much interesting stuff on Goodreads, I should use it a lot more!
I'll have to check my Goodreads list - just out of curiosity. We share some of the same favs I think.
ReplyDeleteI saw Not A Sound last week and thought it looked good. You have lots of good authors coming up. Have a great week and Happy Reading!
I hope you enjoy "A Man Called Ove." I didn't expect to like that book when it came my way, but I loved it far more than I expected.
ReplyDeleteMy top authors in GoodReads are Terry Pratchett, CLAMP, Elizabeth Peters, Mo Willems, Dr. Seuss, Agatha Christie, Mary Pope Osborne, Hiromu Arakawa, and Harry Harrison. The full list is here.
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat little feature on Goodreads to track your most read authors, thanks for sharing - I just did mine! It doesn't surprise me Nora Roberts is on top, she is such a prolific author!
ReplyDeleteMy top authors are Di Morrissey, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks and Phillipa Gregory. No surprises there too!
Great to see a different Kristin Hannah on your shelves this week, I haven't come across that one before! Thanks for sharing!
Have a lovely reading week :-)
Just went and checked and James Sallis is mine, not a surprise at all as I love his books. Some authors don't seem right though as I know I have read more of their books. Makes me want to go back and check.
ReplyDeleteNice post, Kathryn.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to try the Goodreads peek at the authors other folks have read and will check out mine too. Thanks for the tip.
Oooooo...I hope you are enjoying NOT A SOUND. I will have a review tomorrow. Lots of suspense.
Lots of other good books for you.
Have a wonderful week...can't believe it is the third week in May.

That's fun, finding one's favorite authors! I'm going to try it. Thanks for sharing that idea.

Oh wow. Thanks for that Goodreads tip! I had no idea! *runs off to look at Goodreads*
ReplyDeleteI need to explore that feature on Goodreads. It's fun to see what our reading habits are. Not a Sound looks like a very suspenseful book. I have been wanting to read A Man called Ove for the longest time. Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about that Most Read Authors link on Goodreads. M.C. Beaton is my most read, followed by J.R. Ward. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteA fire sounds cozy. I don't have a fireplace, but I enjoy making a fire in my backyard pit if it's a nice evening and I'm planning to stay outside.
I'm curious about A Man Called Ove. I've read great reviews for it! Have a good week!
Wow great post Kathryn you've got some fave authors on your list that I just added to mine, thanks pal LOL
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm getting ready to head to the Caribbean in Cancun for my daughter's destination wedding :)
and I'm reading for my own pleasure Land of Wolves and alternate history and second in a connected series by TJ Turner.
I never realized Goodreads had that feature, thanks for telling us about it. And thanks for hosting the hop.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of great books! I loved One Good Thing. I have heard a lot about A Man Called Ove but not sure that it is for me.
ReplyDeleteHow do you like the audio of a Man Called Ove so far? I just recently read that book and thought it was good.
ReplyDeleteMy most read author is Meg Cabot. Happy reading (and listening) to you.
I was surprised at my Most Read authors list. I've tracked books for a long time so it takes in many once read authors and series. #1 was James Patterson, #2 was John Grisham and #3 was Jennifer Chiaverinni, I read nearly all of her quilters series. Very interesting stats. Have a wonderful reading week. I always marvel that as we enter summer you enter winter. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Goodreads tip! How fun! My top authors include Neal Schusterman, Barbara Kingsolver (a favorite of mine), Rachel Ward & Geraldine Brooks.
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been reading a lot! I love Kristin Hannah's novels, and I really want to read A Man Called Ove. My mom loved it.
Enjoy your week and your books!

Book By Book
It's always fun to look at stats. I'm not surprised Nora Roberts is up there. I'm familiar with many of your authors.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I am kind of blown away that people have written 75 books for you to read. Impressive. I have a Nora Roberts book, because I have been wanting to try her out. If you read 75 of her books, she must be worth reading.
ReplyDeleteSam @ WLABB
Thanks for the heads up on the GR most read authors stat. I've never taken the time to do more than catalogue the books I read. We have in common at the top of our lists: Robyn Carr, Susan Mallery, Susan Wiggs, and Jodi Thomas.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you enjoyed Fools Rush In. I have it on my Kindle to read someday :)
I enjoy reading books by Fredrik Backman. Hope you enjoy A Man Called Ove!
ReplyDeleteI need to go check my most read authors too! I have a feeling Agatha Christie will be #1 but Nora Roberts is probably 2nd. I can't wait to see what you think of A Man Called Ove. I've got it on my audio wishlist. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know about the Goodreads feature. I bet most bloggers did not know about it. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to look at that feature on Goodreads! Thanks for telling us about it. Some of those titles you are reading sound interesting!
ReplyDeleteStephen King is my most read author - similar to yours, no surprise due to how many books the man writes and I have read! :)
ReplyDeleteI really need to read Backman. He is popping up all over - it must be a sign.
The Gudenkauf book looks really good too!!
Looks like a great stack for the winter. I am curious about A Man Called One. My sister gave that to my mother for Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteI tried that GR thing too :D Too bad not all my books were there
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone using captcha all the sudden?
