It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
As a reader I gather all the books I want to read, and as always it takes ages to get to them. The same happens to me with quilting opportunities... I am always seeing fabrics, patterns and quilt alongs I want to try. There are never enough hours in the day!
Sometimes I lose something and never see it again. This week after four years an iPod Touch 4 turned up. I used them for class work when teaching and this went missing about a year or so before I retired. We stored the iPods in a filing cabinet and it turns out someone found it there. Now the school where I taught has since closed and moved to new premises and that filing cabinet moved too. Yet a teacher dropped the iPod Touch into me in pristine condition! I had a bit of a laugh at the photos and videos on it as it awakened memories. (Yes I bought a couple of iPods, I'd be waiting forever for the school to do it, although they did get an iPad for each room). When I was teaching I loved using such technology in the classroom. I donated the others to a starting out teacher when I retired, but I will keep this one now.
We had a lot of fun making the videos and of course I am sure they were educational!!
Also this week a book I requested on NetGalley over a year ago was also approved. I had given up on it and forgotten about it. How odd is that!
This week I have enjoyed a couple of bloggers who have been sharing about Book Expo. Sheila from Book Journey shared about time with Lisa Jewell and Jane Green and Kristin from Always With a Book shared each of her days 1-4 of Book Expo. I love to live vicariously!
What I read last week:
Well I didn't accomplish a lot of reading this week as I got caught up in hours of quilting. It was also a people kind of week, which was really nice but meant my reading was limited although rewarding.
I read for review....
What I am reading at present:
From the very recently bought pile a book from one of my top favourite series. I do read paranormal but I am not a huge paranormal reader, but this series speaks to my reader's heart. I love those changelings.
Still listening to...
Really enjoying it, I remember none of it which I guess is not surprising after so many years, and am chuckling away as I listen.
How cool that the iPod showed up. It gives me hope as I can't find my camera and updated pictures of Cole and Cameron. I am praying that they didn't get thrown away by mistake. Hope you like Almost Sisters as much as I did. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny about the iPod! You never know when something is going to turn up I guess! Fun videos. And a NG approval after a year? Wow that might be a record? Hope it's good, if it is you can joke about it being worth the wait! Ha ha
ReplyDeleteThat iPod had quite the journey!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reading, and I am eager to get Almost Sisters. Thanks for sharing, and for hosting.
How fun about your iPod. My daughter had lost hers and we found it after two years. I saw both Sheila an Kristen at BookExpo and we had a good chat. They are both lovely. I read Sheila's post but not Kristen's so thanks for sharing them. I also shared my BookExpo experiences on my blog.
ReplyDeleteSo nice that the iPod was returned. The videos are fun. I saw Laura's BookExpo posts. I'll have to look at the others. I'm still interested in your thoughts on Silver Silence. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteI too am living vicariously through those who blogged about BEA-- what fun! And I'm reading two Nora Roberts books this week, planned that way. Both you read Stars of Fortune #1 and other is Come Sundown, that you just reviewed and enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteI almost teared up when watching your videos above-- reminded me of the great times I had working at my last school, which was a very rural elementary (K-6th grade) in Maine. As I was leaving work to move, and that was some years ago, they had just been granted a laptop for every student in grades 4-6 to use at school. Some came from poor families and it was a blast to see them using those for classwork, and enjoying all the technology in the Computer Lab. I love the pure honesty and energy of kids!
Have another wonderful week quilting. Show us your latest work when you're done :)
How funny to get that blast from the past via the iPads!
ReplyDeleteAnd how I wish I could've gone to BEA - alas for being so far away!!! :'(
I love all the videos. Thanks for sharing. I wish I could have gone to BEA as well. Enjoy your books and happy reading. Have a wonderful week. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun to get your old ipod back and find some videos. Summer vacation has begun and so has the extreme heat. Come see what I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteHow random with the Netgalley title! Happy reading - I hope you have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been a nice surprise to receive your iPod back. Thanks for sharing the wonderful videos! Have a great week Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm surprised that you got the iPod back! That's amazing! And going through all the old stuff must have been a trip down memory lane!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise that NetGalley acceptances could happen so far down the road! Woah!
Hope you have a great week!
What adorable videos....fun to re-visit!! Nice to hear you got the iPod back.
ReplyDeleteI love the BEA updates. I have been there, but haven't gone the past two years.
Interesting about NetGalley - I never knew they would wait a year. Nice!!
Loved THE ALMOST SISTERS - I hope you do too.
Have a wonderful week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
I love how you made movies when you worked in schools. I'm stealing that idea for this year! I'm going to use children who come to summer library to make a movie this summer to start! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHow great that you got your iPod back! I'd love to attend the BEA in person. I participated in the Armchair BEA this year, and it was fun and I'd do it again. I still haven't tried the Psy-Changeling series but it's on my TBR!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
That is a funny story about the Ipod Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat's so weird about getting a NetGalley approval a year later. Almost Sisters looks really good. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGood gosh! Can't believe it showed up again! Lovely that you shared some videos and snip-bits with us.
ReplyDeleteI am very bad with audio books this year. You just gave me a great idea to listen to all the Anne of Green Gables books again. Nice and relaxing and I miss Anne!
Hope you will have a good week.
How fun; I liked the videos and efforts that were put into them. The iPod is like a time capsule you got back; how neat. I feel the same way about Gilmore Girls; there are many things I've forgotten that had happened.
ReplyDeleteOne of the books I'm reading this week, The Last Days of Night, was a NetGalley "wish" from last year that suddenly was approved about a month ago. And I had nearly checked it out from the library!
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week!
Great Monday post as usual Kathryn. I'm knee deep in my contract reviews looking for the light at the end of this tunnel :)
ReplyDeleteIts neat when you find things like that! I want to read a beach house book this summer; I did read a lake house book this week.
ReplyDeleteI so want to start reading Nalini Singh's books. I need to get those on my library list! First I need to get there to check out Come Sundown! Off to check out your post first.
ReplyDeleteLOL. 4 years. that is crazy
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel less forgetful I recently found my daughters iPod in the car glove box a year after losing it? Not quite four years but still....
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That is crazy about the Netgalley. I think longest I've had is maybe 2 months. Hope it's a good one after that long a wait. lol
ReplyDeleteToo funny on the ipad. Things get lost in my house like that and it's always a surprise when they pop up again. :D
I can't wait to read Silver Silence. I got a couple of gift cards for my birthday in April, forgot to add them to my account and then packed them away for my move. So the moment I find them that ebook is MINE!
ReplyDeleteI'm a book hoarder too :) Glad you found your iPod in pristine condition and all the memories in there :)
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy about the iPod but what fun to go back through the photos and videos. We are big fans of Geronimo Stilton around here so I really enjoyed that mention. I'm glad you're enjoying Anne of Avonlea. I love that series but don't think the later books get enough attention - especially Anne of the Island and Rilla of Ingelside. Hope your week has gone well!
