It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Welcome in everyone and happy September! In our part of the world Spring is appearing in little ways and I have been busy still in the garden - I have been digging in lupin and mustard to the vegie garden and  let me tell you this older body is protesting. I feel a need to rest up and read for a few days!

What I read last week:

I enjoyed The Christmas Room and will have a review up nearer publication. At Home in Mitford was easy reading, I don't feel called to read on in the series but it was good to see what it was about.

I finished listening to Clean Sweep and liked it, may continue with the series at some point. It was one of their lighter books I think which suits me.

What I am reading at present:

From my recently bought shelf I am reading the second one in Beverly Jenkins series. It is set in a town in Kansas. It is sort of similar to the Mitford series but I prefer this one so its likely I will read right through to #8 which is as far as it goes - #8 was out this year.

I am also a good ways through listening to Anne's House of Dreams. You might notice this is from LibriVox, as there was no edition available to me on Audible. I am finding it well narrated so quite happy.

  5. Happy spring to you- I can feel autumn in the air over this way with the cooler temps at night. Ilona Andrews' books look good, and so do the Karon books (look like comfort reads) and The Christmas Room (love the festive cover).

    Have a nice week!

  11. I love lupins and I hope they grow well in your veggie garden. Looks like you're into reading some good series. I like it when I find a good series and can reconnect with some of the characters in future books. Enjoy the first signs of spring. Here weather has already cooled off...

  15. Nice selection of books. I enjoyed reading the Anne of Green Gables series a few years ago. Now that that the weather has cooled a bit, I'm starting to think about Christmas books, but not sure I'm ready to read any yet. See what Susan Read at Girl Who Reads

  16. I still can't wrap my head around September = spring for you & my other friends in Australia & NZ. Here, September has always meant fall & school starting, but I'm sure that sounds weird to you! :)

You read a nice variety of books this week. I've only read Anne of Green Gables (and just recently), so I would love to read or listen to the rest of the series.

Enjoy your books this week -

  19. Yardwork is HARD work! Yes, be sure to take care of you and give yourself downtime too. My muscles sure feel it when I've been raking and gardening. Be sure to stretch your sore muscles.

I have Clean Sweep from Audible waiting on my TBR mountain. I've heard good things about the series! I love seeing all the Christmas books coming out now. Have a great week!

TBR list. Have a great day!

  23. Good to know the Blessings novels are similar to the Mitford novels. I haven't read either yet! I'm about halfway through The Widow of Wall Street and so far it hasn't knocked my socks off. Maybe I would like it better on audio!

  26. I love Anne's House of Dreams so much. Some of it is a little too sweet but there are so many wonderful characters introduced. I love Leslie, Captain Jim, and Cornelia. You've got me wanting to reread this series now! I'm curious about The Widow of Wall Street. It sounds intriguing but I will wait for your review! Have a great week!

  27. Happy September to you! I'm currently reading In the Market for Murder by T.E. Kinsey which is a lovely little cosy crime book. I'm also listening to a Brene Brown book but I haven't had much opportunity for audiobook listening lately.
