It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Welcome in everyone and hope you had a good reading week.
I managed to only buy only ten books from our annual book fair which was good and I realised when I got home I'd read one of them so it will go back next year. I also got a few quilting books which I don't count in the total! Talk about synchronicity - I was watching a Facebook live on Friday on quilting and wanted to make one of the quilts. And there the book was that I wanted at the book fair. As its out of print that was a real bonus.
What I read last week:
These two were off my own book shelf and I enjoyed both of them. Emilie Richards certainly did her research for Smoke Screen - set in New Zealand. Love Walked In took awhile to win me over but when it did, it put itself on my favourites shelf. I have the second book of this duology and its why I bought
My review for Have You Met Nora? will be posted early November. Looking again at the cover its quite significant now that I've read the story. Although the book won't make my favourites shelf!
What I am reading at present:
Just starting this YA debut novel - review book.
Still listening to ....Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.
Sounds like a nice stack of books made it home with you. How great you picked up the needed quilting book. I enjoyed Love Walked In too and have yet to get to the next book. Hope this is a great week for you.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that you were able to find a book you've been wanting at the book fair! I haven't read Love Walked In yet. I am curious about The Thing With Feathers too.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week and enjoy your reading and your quilting :)
At the book sale I went to, I was looking for crochet books, but they only had quilting ones. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll enjoy those new books, Kathryn. Have a wonderful week and happy reading. 😁❤️
ReplyDeleteI am loving the idea of The Thing with Feathers...and I read Love Walked In a few years ago. Off to check on Goodreads...(I read it in 2011!).
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Emilie Richards' The Swallow's Nest, so Smoke Screen is on my list.
Enjoy your week of reading and quilting.
Sounds like the book sale was a win. http://pussreboots.com/blog/2017/comments_10/what_are_you_reading_1016.html
ReplyDeleteI love it when you're looking for a book, and voila- there it is. Always nice to load up at a book fair or used shop or something like that- something about a stack of books!
ReplyDeleteNice haul at the book sale! Well done on finding just what you wanted.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a good reading week and book buying week for you.
ReplyDeleteLOVE library sales.
The cover on SMOKE SCREEN is gorgeous.
The Brenda Novak book looks good. I don't think I have ever read one of her books. I need to.
ENJOY your week, Kathryn, and thanks for coming by my blog.
P.S. SEVEN DAYS OF US is quite good for a debut novel. Great characters and story line.
Only 10 books? You did great!! I usually wind up with a full bag :)
ReplyDeleteThose books are all new to me. Hope you enjoy!
PS: If you look at my Stacking The Shelves from Sunday, you'll see my first snow pics!
DeleteI love book fairs and it sounds like you did well. The Stolen Marriage sounds really good. So do all of your books. Have a great week!
ReplyDelete10 books - not bad at all - you must have been very restrained.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a good week thanks for sharing Kathryn!!
ReplyDeleteOnly 10, hehe
ReplyDeleteI love that you found exactly the quilting book you needed at the library sale! A special kind of synchronicity!
ReplyDeleteMarisa de los Santos is a local author here - I always enjoy her books. Glad you did, too!
Enjoy your books & your quilting this week -
Sue
Book By Book
All of your books sound lovely. I know that you will enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteTen books is still quite a catch. How fun for you. These are great covers. I like it when they don't show a person's face. It leaves more to the imagination.
ReplyDelete10 books is pretty good! It's easy to get carried away at those things. I'm curious about the Emilie Richards book. I love her and haven't read many books set in New Zealand. I'm curious about Have You Met Nora? I love the cover and the title but want to know what keeps it from being on your favorites list. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the Nora review. That cover is intriguing.
