It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
During the week I was heavily spammed - by one spammer so I have turned on comment moderation for awhile. I was going to do captcha but I know what a pain that is so will opt for the moderation for a time.
Hope you all had a great start to 2018, especially in the reading department.
What I read last week:
I raced through this 13hr + listen. I was totally hooked by it. I read all the reviews where readers cried. No - of course I wouldn't. I Did! So good.
My first read of the year The Promise Between Us was excellent. Amazing. My review will be later this month. Still available on NetGalley.
I enjoyed this book, I know the cover looks very Avon books but the story inside was both fun and informative of times in the Old West. Review to be posted.
What I am reading at present:
Just started listening to..
Reading from the TBR....
Ugh, sorry about the SPAM. Love Katie Ruggle's series. Definitely going to check out The Sea of Tranquility on audio. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the spam. Oh I love hearing you enjoyed The Sea Of Tranquility. It is one of my favorites. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your new books/audiobooks. 😁❤️
ReplyDeleteI get Spam too and keep everything moderated. That's part of why comments are sometimes slow to post.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate spammers!! I get a lot of them on my Yahoo mail, which is my e-mail for my Amazon page. I deleted my e-mail info. from my Amazon page, but I still get a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteI love Barbara Claypole White's books, so The Promise Between Us is on my list.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for hosting.
The Upside looks good, I like memoirs. Happy New Year! Spammers are such a pain.
ReplyDeleteSpamming is the worst! Ugh so annoying. I don't understand why spamming and hacking and any of that stuff even exists! lol
ReplyDeleteHope your weather is nice and you have a super week!
I noted 25 spam messages this past week too. I'm glad you are enjoying your reading.
ReplyDeleteHope this is another good week for you. Happy Reading!
So glad you enjoyed your first read of 2018! I've been curious about The Sea of Tranquility. I can't wait to see The Upside when it releases in March. I saw the French version named The Untouchables and it was one of the best movies I saw. Such a touching story!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteMy Wordpress site is set up so that every new commenter is moderated for the first time, then if I approve them, they are free to comment after that. I have to admit that spam is a pain though and if it wasn't for 'Akismet' doing its thing, then I would also have horrendous problems!
Like myself, you seem to enjoy reading from a multiplicity of genres and whilst all of your titles are new to me, I like the sound of both 'The Promise Between Us' and 'A Grown-Up Kind Of Pretty'.
Have a good week and Happy Reading :)

Spammers...ugh! I hope that, otherwise, you have had a good start to the new year. I've just finished reading my first novel by Joshilyn Jackson and I loved it; hope you enjoy your new audiobook! Thanks so much for hosting, Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteSorry you've been having issues with spam lately, I'm so glad I don't have that issue yet. I've been wanting to read The Upside but I'm so afraid I'll cry! Lol.
ReplyDeleteIf you want, you can check out my post here:

Hope the spam problem clears up. I got The Promise Between us from NetGalley. So far I am enjoying it. OCD is a sad illness. I'll check out The Sea of Tranquility. Enjoy your reads and your week!
ReplyDeleteSpam is annoying. Last week I visited a blog friend who lives in a country where English is not the first language. She had had troubles with spam and had to turn on captcha. I had so much trouble trying to figure out what I was supposed to click on, since the words were in another language!

Spammers are such a pain. I'm sorry you are having to deal with that now.
ReplyDeleteYour books all look so good. I'll have to see if I can get The Sea of Tranquility on audio.
Have a great week!
I had to turn comment moderation on a while ago. I was getting lots of spam messages as well, and I still do actually.
ReplyDeleteThe Sea of Tranquility is on my Wishlist! Glad to hear how much you enjoyed it. Have a great week!
I saw all that spam...very annoying and upsetting.
ReplyDeleteGood idea about the comment moderating.
Lots of good books for the second week of January...unfortunately I think this year is going to fly by too.
The Joshilyn Jackson book looks good.
Have a wonderful reading week.
Elizabeth
I haven’t read any Barbara Claypole White but I really want to try her and the same with Beverly Jenkins. That’s too bad about the spam. For some reason I’ve had a huge problem with spammers hitting older posts. The good thing is so far I only have to moderate older posts but who knows how long that’ll last. I just don’t see the point of all the spamming! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices Kathryn I don't think I've ever seen a bodice ripper staring a black couple I have to get that one. Happy Monday
ReplyDeleteDang spammers!!! Sometimes one slips through for me even though I moderate every one
ReplyDeleteWow, that first audio sounds great! And I always enjoy memoirs, too.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your spam problems - happens to us all!
Sounds like you got your 2018 reading year off to a good start - enjoy your books this week!

Nice books. I'm currently listening to The Closer You Come (The Original Heartbreakers, #1) by Gena Showalter. I really loved the novella that introduces us to the town and people. This novel is so far great. Can't wait to see how it turns out. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you had to deal with spammers. I get some sometimes but am glad WP siphons them out for me and I can permanently delete them. Glad you had great reads this week and have some interesting covers lined up next. Have a good Monday.
ReplyDeleteI've read at least one of BCS's novels and enjoyed it so I'll add the new title to my GR list. I agree about the Jenkins cover - looks pretty old school. I'll add it to my list, though, because I've wanted to try one of her books. Have a good week, Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your reads.
ReplyDeleteLovely choices...I loved A Sea Of Tranquility!
ReplyDeleteThe Sea of Tranquility was an amazing book. And I totally bawled by eyes out too! Now you are making me curious about The Promise Between Us. Have a good week Kathryn.
ReplyDeleteThe Sea of Tranquility was amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh obnoxious on the spammer. It's a shame people have to do things like that. I really want to try Ruggle. Hers always look so dang good! Happy reading!
