It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Greetings everyone and welcome in. I hope you USA readers have adjusted to your time change, we are still in daylight saving, it goes through to the end of March here. So still enjoying some nice light evenings.

I've been getting in some reading and sewing and a few walks but I really need to do more. The spirit is willing (most of the time) but the 'get up and go' sadly not so wonderful!  When its windy it is easy to put me off. Sunday would have been great for a walk on the beach as the weather was gorgeous but a blocked kitchen drain snatched that time away from us as we worked to clear it. A drain pipe under a concrete foundation right across the bottom of the house to the other side. Every so often it spells trouble with a capital T!

What I read last week:

I enjoyed this library book and look forward to the most recently published in the series when it comes to our library.

I finished listening to this one, it was a gentle character driven novel that I enjoyed. I'll listen to the next one in the series in a little while.

I also finished this one - dual time line - very good but not light reading in many places.

What I am reading at present:

I started listening to this one, it was easy to pick as my next listen as I enjoyed the first one in this series set in a northern Scottish island.

And just starting for review

  2. Before I Let You Go is on my list...and I also find excuses not to do more walking...sigh.

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. There are many good covers here that I will check out on Goodreads after I finishing commenting here. Sorry you had to deal with clogged pipe. We once dealt with that at my grandmother's and she ended up having to get new pipes that ran from inside the garage to the driveway because they were old, clay pipes costing at least five digits.

  4. I never adjust to this time change, I prefer the Fall one. Have a great week :)

  5. Sorry you missed getting out due to a blocked pipe. :-( Hope you were able to get it fixed okay.
Your current covers drew me in, especially The Endless Beach. Hope you enjoy all of your reading!

  6. Sorry you didn't get to take the beach walk! Sounds lovely. I'm not a fan of the time change unfortunately, although I think I've FINALLY adjusted to it. It always takes me a while...

I love the look of The Endless Beach... ooh a Scottish island. :) Before I Let You Go looks good too...

  7. Oh goodness, I can relate to your kitchen drain problem. Our house has the same drainage set up and the same problems. We joke the house is prone to colic. We've learned that we can either run the dishwasher or we can run the washing machine, but not the two simultaneously.

  8. Being a homeowner isn't always fun. I swear things go when you can least deal with them. Hope you get some energy back soon. I have to exercise, but haven't done it lately. No desire at all.

Great books on your list this week. Some I've seen other places. Need to add The Paris Seamstress to my wish list.

  10. Ugh, I'm sorry to hear about that pesky drain, Kathryn; I live in a really old home (built in 1927), so I can relate to those drainage issues! :) I love the cover on The Endless Beach; I'm always looking for entertaining audiobook selections, so I may have to look up this series. Hope you have a great week!

  12. Oh, we’ve had plumbing troubles lately, too. And yesterday, on the way to bringing us soil for our garden, my son had two flat tires!

Has someone cast a wicked spell on us?

  13. Plumbing problems aren't fun. Glad you had some help.

I actually took a walk yesterday...it was sunny, but chilly, but warmer than usual. Yippee!!

ENJOY your reading week. The Endless Beach sounds good...I like her books.

  14. The time change is so rough. It takes me forever to readjust.

  15. I hate Daylight Savings Time! I was enjoying it being lighter at 6:10 a.m. before the switch, and now it's pitch dark. It makes it so much harder to get up in the morning, and it's tough on the kids.

Sorry to hear about your drain. Yes, that can be a pain!! I have big trees in my yard, so roots causing issues in drains is not unusual here.

Hope you have a great week! That Eva Leigh cover is gorgeous!

  18. Since we don't change our clocks in Arizona, it more a matter of "Am I now one or two hours removed from family in Nebraska?" But I can't complain; at least there isn't any sleep disruption.

Plumbing, what a pain. Hope it's sorted and you're free to have a good week of reading and beach walks!

  19. Oh no! I hope the pipe was an easy fix. We had a lot of plumbing problems when we moved into this house. It is not fun.

  23. I have read and loved all of DeMaio's books but have not listened to one yet. I'll have to give one a try. I have Before I Let You Go coming up on my review. Enjoy your books and happy reading.

I really want to read Devil in Spring and The Paris Seamstress looks wonderful. DeMaio is an author I've really been wanting to read and I'm always up for Jenny Colgan. Hope you are having a great week!

  28. Plumbing problems can be the worst. Hope it worked out well. Today was cold, rainy and windy. More like the deep winter than spring here. Have a great week.

  29. Daylight savings usually doesn't affect me very much except for the first week. I'm blessed that way. I added The Paris Seamtress + a few others from the links to my want to read list....it's growing!
