It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Well this week was weather week. It was book ended by Sundays where I wore a tee shirt and walked on the beach. In between it turned really cold. I hauled out every bit of winter clothing I had and put it on, got under a quilt with a hot water bottle to read. I was not turning the heat on in April.
Today it is pouring with rain but not cold, but..... I have to drop my new car (January) to the panel beaters because I got too close to a large pole in the hospital underground carpark about two weeks after buying it! It scraped the paint on one door. It has to have a new door! They don't panel beat any more because of the material cars are made of. So I'll be carless for three days. No doubt I'll be very wet after walking home!
Listening to the news though seems USA has had a few weather bombs of its own, so I guess the planet is getting itself adjusted to changing seasons.
What I read last week:
I finished listening to The Endless Beach. It was well worth the listen, a little bittersweet though. I'd love another one to follow this second one set on the island of Mure in Scotland. So well narrated as well.
I also read these two, both interesting books, one a great beach read and one a bit of a mystery dual time line story. Both review books so posts up eventually.
What I am reading at present:
One from the library that my turn finally came for. I am getting into it at present.
And I will be listening to...
this one. Only a little way in, but it is well narrated and I am getting hooked!
Yes, we are having some weather issues! Unfortunately, we did have to turn the heat on in April. Sorry to hear about your car. Hope this week if full of reading.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed a couple of Jenny Colgan's books, so Endless Beach does look good. I also want to read my copy of Same Beach, Next Year.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about your car! I scraped the door on my car when it was fairly new...from driving into my garage when it was so full of stuff from moving that I misjudged how much room I had! Sigh.
Enjoy your week...hope your weather turns nicer.
Oh sorry to hear about the car! And the weather is wacky, isn't it? We had sleet last night and school is called off tomorrow for ice. In mid april! Yeesh.
ReplyDeleteLove that cover of The Sunshine sisters- very summery!
Sorry about your car. We're having rain too but it's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteAs a knitter, I will take your cold weather anytime. Sorry about your car door. I did something similar once where I felt compelled to park right next to the curb and forgot the mini, whomping willow tree had knobby knots sticking out past the curb line. I couldn't even open the damn door. My husband took it to a body shop and told them I told him a tree hit me,lol.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the car. That's a bummer. Yucky weather here in Mass too. I hear freezing rain pelting the window right now. All those beachy book covers make me think of warm weather.
ReplyDeleteI hope your sis is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteAnd yikes that sucks :/ But just 3 days, and today is a new day so what is it then 2 more days! :)
The battery on our car was flat this morning, so I feel your pain. Lucky you with your book mail. Have a great reading week.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the car! Our weather is yucky today, too. On Saturday we had temps in the 70's and it was beautiful. Sunday it dropped to the 40's and today we are having quite a lot of rain. It would be a perfect time to stay home and read, but it's Monday morning and I have to get to work :( I enjoyed the Sunshine Sisters. All of your books look great. Enjoy and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI feel bad about your car. Oh dear.
ReplyDeleteIt’s crazy weather here. Spring, but usually, by now, it feels like summer. Oh no, not this year...it went down into the 40’s last night. What is going on?
I don't know what is going on with our weather in Pittsburgh and many places in the USA.
ReplyDeleteWe had 80 degrees on Friday, then it got colder, has been raining, and snow is predicted. CRAZY!!
I have TASTE OF AIR coming up for me. Going to check out your review.
A book club in Michigan had a book club meeting with Dorothea Benton Frank. It was live, and I think they were talking about SAME BEACH NEXT YEAR. If I can find the link, I will send it to you.
I enjoyed THE SUNSHINE SISTERS.
ENJOY all of your books and your week.
I hope the weather figures out what it wants to do for everyone.
I'm so sorry about your car. My husband hit a pole a few weeks ago, too. :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer about your car. A little scrape and the whole car door needs to be changed. You read some great books this week. They appeal to me because of those beach covers!
ReplyDeleteAll of your books have a nice beachy theme! They are all new to me.
ReplyDeleteHope you car is back soon! Have a good week.
We've been blasted by snow with more on the way. I am so ready for nice, warm weather!
ReplyDeleteI have read all of KWH's books and have loved them all. I haven't listened to any so I may have to revisit them that way.
Have a great week, try not to get too wet, and happy reading!
Sorry about your car :( It has been cold here too, it is supposed to be Spring, but it seems more like Winter.
ReplyDeleteWow. It seems like everyone has been having some crazy weather lately. I'm sorry to hear about your car. I hope the weather calms down some in your area.
ReplyDeleteOh the weather outside is frightful. It's April one of my favorite Spring months but this morning it was Snowing. Snow is now a four letter word!!! Spring where are you? Looks like a great read week, it's been awhile since I've read one by Jane Green. Happy Monday
ReplyDeleteKathryn...here is the video URL.

I'm sorry to hear about your new car! I hope all goes well with the repairs. It looks like you've been reading good books for the summer. Weather here is getting nicer, but there is still a chill in the air.
ReplyDeleteLike your selection of reads. It all looks very summery!!
ReplyDeleteI hate car troubles but hopefully things are better now. You've got such fantastic books going. I really want to try Dorothea Frank Benton and I love Jenny Colgon. I think she has another one set on the Island of Mure (Café by the Sea I think) but I don't think it's a sequel. Hope you're having a fantastic week!
ReplyDeleteOh the Endless Beach looks good. I'd been looking for something on audio so will check that out.
