Its Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Thank you all for you kind words on the passing of my sister. It has been a sad time but also blessed time as family gathered together. This week has been a quiet recovery time and I have found time for reading and well... quite a bit of patchwork and quilting - I needed some creative outlet time.

My brother and sister in law did it their way by going out fishing off our coast on Saturday which was a beautiful, cold, windless day. Jane shared this photo taken from the boat back to the land where we live.  It made me think I just don't stand back and appreciate half enough. I thought to myself "Do I really live there!"?  On Sunday it was cloudy but very still and calm and I looked out over the sea as I walked along the beach and its gorgeous looking that way too!  And the thing is there are millions of places all over the world just as beautiful.

What I read last week:

Two review books - both good reads.  I don't think I have read JoAnn Ross before but would be happy to read more from her when I want a small town story.

I really enjoyed this audiobook - light and fun with just enough emotional impact to keep me listening. I know there is a follow up I'll listen to at the right moment.  Loved the narrator.

Up next:

A review book - chosen obviously for its title!

  1. These books all look so tempting. I'm glad you had some great family time; Our family went through a loss in April and the time with family helped us through.

Enjoy your reading and that view!

  14. I'm glad you spent time with family Kathryn to share, to laugh and to cry. I also have The Lost for Words Bookshop on my list soon. Can't wait to compare notes. Right now I'm reading Breathless by Celeste Bradley & Susan Donovan. It takes place present and in 1827. Very good.

  15. What a lovely picture. It's hard to believe it's a real place let alone that people actually live there! I'm glad you're taking some time for your creative outlets and your reading all sounds wonderful. I read Heron's Landing and it was my first JoAnn Ross as well but I really enjoyed it. Hope you have a wonderful week.

  19. I missed last Monday, so my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your sister, Kathryn. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to lose a loved one, even when you know it is coming. I hope that memories of happy times spent together can comfort you and your family now. And I'm glad to hear you are finding some comfort in your sewing and books, too.

    Thinking of you -

  23. Yes, sigh....in the hustle and bustle of life we sometimes miss the beauty right in front of us....
As I walk through my yard, I am amazed at the gardens I've created out of pain, prayer and tears..they are now my victory gardens....
May peace continue to envelope you and your loved ones.
