It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
First Monday of 2017! Happy New Year.
Well I have spent the week visiting posts of bloggers 2016 favourites and taking note of books I might like to read! I took part in First Book of the Year which is always a load of fun. Now to settle into the new year's reading!
I love getting out my new calendar. This year I bought a quilting one about three months ago. Then panic, do you think I could find it! Finally found it after some searching tucked away on a top shelf!
I am also taking part in a January book giveaway. I made a special entry for It's Monday! participants. You never know! You can enter here. Only think you have to do is be a participant in It's Monday! What are You Reading?
What I read last week:
Audiobook...
What I am reading at present:
My first book for 2017.
Audiobook
I'm terrible at deciding on a calendar! I ended up with a bird one this year from the 50% off selection (& only remembered to put it up today).
ReplyDeleteI didn't manage to finish my current book before the end of the year, so I'm yet to choose my first. Last year's first book was a DNF so hopefully I do better this year!
I love the feeling of a brand New Year, able to buy more books, etc. Thanks for sharing...and for hosting this event.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday! And the first one of the New Year! I hope you had a nice start of the year and best wishes for 2017!
ReplyDeleteI want to read Bridge of Scarlet Leaves. I hope you enjoy it. I listened to an audio version of Anne of Green Gables recently and loved it. Such a delightful book to reread. I should listen to the rest of the series. I only read a couple as a teen.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I didn't write an It's Monday post this week but I just finished reading Pax by Sara Pennypacker (my last book of 2016--excellent children's novel about a boy and his pet fox who are separated by war and trying to find each other). Currently I am reading my pick for First Book of the Year, The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon.
Happy New Year! I just finished by first book of the year it was A Great Reckoning by Louise Penny. It was wonderful each one of her Inspector Gamache books is better than the one before it.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out your review of The Other Daughter and your bookish resolutions. Enjoy your reading week!

ReplyDeleteA year or so ago, my daughter and I listened to the audio of Anne of Green Gables (I think it was the same version you have) and she really loved it!
ReplyDeleteJill Mansell looks like a good book. I heard that she is a pretty good author. She writes woman fiction right?
ReplyDeleteShe does Viki although usually on the lighter side of it. I've read a few books by her only and enjoyed them.
DeleteThat is good to know. I sometimes see her books, so I will definitely check them out sometime.
DeleteI'm so behind I haven't even bought a calendar yet. I'll try to change that today.
ReplyDeleteStill haven't read a Jill Mansell book - several on my Kindle so I should make that a goal this year. Have a good week, Kathryn!
I don't really keep at physical calendar these days - just my multiple google and school calendars that all sync to my phone. I do have my planning calendar, but that's school year, not full year.
ReplyDeleteAnne of Green Gables! Now that's one I haven't read in YEARS! How was the audio? Have a great week :)
Oh, my gosh, Kathryn; I'm so glad I'm not alone. I bought a new planning book and lost mine, as well; it did turn up, but I was going through everything in the house trying to find it! Good grief. I hope you enjoyed a wonderful New Year holiday and thank you for the fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHaving a nice calendar/planner brightens my day, I have one from the Cat Blogosphere filled with photos of all the cats that blog. Happy New Year! Hope you get to do lots of reading--and quilting.
ReplyDeletehappy first Monday of the year! I love that your first book is one of my favorites! I def. needed tissues though! (as I do with most of Kristina's books)
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh that you nearly couldn't find your calendar! I am the same way. In fact, I bought a couple of stocking stuffers for my kids that I don't know where I hid!! Oh, well. They'll turn up eventually.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to read the Anne of Green Gables series. For a Canadian girl, it's shameful that I haven't read it!! Maybe I'll try on audio. How are you liking it?
I have more snow pics on my Sunday Post if you want to check them out! Have a great week!
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear I'm not the one person who still uses a paper calendar :) I love getting out my new calendar on Jan. 1, too.
I read Anne of Green Gables for the first time last year and LOVED it! One of my favorite literary characters ever. I would love to read more in the series.
Enjoy your books -
Sue
Book By Book
I love my calendar too. I have a large one and a small pocket one for my purse. :)
ReplyDeleteI need to put things on my phone calendar.
I do the same thing about putting things away and then forgetting where I put them. That happened this morning when I was looking for my regular tablecloth. I finally found it. Glad to hear you found your calendar.
The Other Daughter looks very good. Your first book of the year, Bridge of Scarlet Leaves, looks like something I would definitely like.
Have a great reading week.

Glad you found your calendar. I know the feeling searching all over the house for something. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I have Sweet Southern Hearts on my list to read this month.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Bridge of Scarlet Leaves has been on my look-for list for a few months ☺ I'm interested in how the U.S. treated Japanese-Americans during W.W. II, a horrible mark on our history.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with 2017 reading and quilting. I know we're going to have a great year ahead.
It's been ages since I read Anne of Green Gables. Is the narrator good?
ReplyDeleteSo many good reads ahead this year! Happy 2017!
I love Jill Mansell but haven't read that one so look forward to your thoughts. I can't wait to see what you think of The Other Daughter and Bridge of Scarlet Leaves looks so good! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI’ve also been reading a lot of 2016 favorites posts. It’s been killing my TBR list. There are so many books I want to read.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Choosing a calendar is always easy for me, haha..I always get an I Love Lucy theme since I love that show and so does my daughter. Although recently she has fallen in love with the Dick Van Dyke Show.
ReplyDeleteYour books all sound so good too, by the way! Adding to my TBR...haha..
I'm glad you found your new calendar. I got a pocket one for the car to help keep track of business miles. You have so many pretty covers!
ReplyDeleteI like your week's posts. I am still catching up with 2016 wrap-ups.
Thanks for being a faithful host of IMWAYR. Happy Reading!
I just have the boring old calendar I get from my union, very dull
ReplyDeleteYOu know what? I'm always in awe of you book bloggers. I really don't know how you crammed to many books into your days... but I love reading about it on your blogs.
ReplyDeleteI'm still reading my WWI history book and I really need to get a move on it ;-)
The Other Daughter looks so good! I'm reading on some Lexi Blake and a Mary Kay Andrews audiobook. Both are pretty good :)
