It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I  went into a book slow down this past week,  most days too tired to focus on a book, however I did finish one audiobook and went completely through another.  It is much easier to sit back and be read to when I'm tired.  Hopefully this week I will achieve a bit more book in the hand reading.
Four days of good walking at the beginning of the week and then I tapered off. Back on the road though already this week!

Books read:
Audiobook. Rosalyn Landor took this up to 4 stars for me.

Again narrated by Rosalyn Landor and a five star listen for me.

At present I am reading:
I am still reading The Beekeeper's Ball by Susan Wiggs.  At the 25% stage. Enjoying it but just haven't been reading.  Hopefully this week I will finish it.

I am about to start listening to the audiobook No Place Like Home by Barbara Samuel. Narrated by Kristine Thatcher.

Up next:
No River Too Wide by Emilie Richards.  #3 in her Goddess series.
Melting Into You by Tracey Alvarez  #2 in her Due South series.

You might ask what happened to Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh.  Well it didn't show up in the bookshops locally, so I have ordered it from the Book Depository. What do they say about a prophet in their own country!  Next time I will know better and order  earlier.  I could have got it straight away for my Kindle - but I tire of the Kindle and like an actual book, so decided to exercise patience and defer enjoyment!  I do expect Diana Gabaldon's book to show up here this week, she has a large following here in New Zealand so that shouldn't be a problem.

  1. Hi, Kathryn! I grabbed The Beekeeper's Ball from NetGalley last week. I haven't started it yet, but the blurb had me hooked. Have a great week!

  2. I'll have to fit No River Too Wide in my schedule next week, it was supposed to be this week but Heather Gudenkauf's Little Mercies won lol. I'm adding More than a Mistress to my audio wishlist since you loved it. I have a few credits with audible.com so hopefully it's available.

Eek I'm running out of time to finish An Echo in the Bone in time to go straight on with Heart's Blood ... I wish there were more hours in the day! Well maybe if I hadn't watched so many episodes of Vikings I would have finished my book haha

Good start to June with your walking, well done!! Have a wonderful week and happy reading :)

    1. I was surprised at the Mary Balogh book as I don't always like hers, but the audio brings it alive. My favourite word - hauteur. The duke was full of it. It was a matter of how many ways to work in the word hauteur!

  6. I also get tired of reading on my Kindle (no offense, Sparky!). I do like how easy it is to get books...but after reading two or three e-books, I savor the feel of a REAL book!

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog. I must get back into more walking!

  7. I got Shield of Winter for my Kindle because my shelves are too full. I'll likely buy a paperback later though. I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  9. Good job on the walking. I really need to start again. It's great to listen to audio while walking too! I like my Kindle to "read" to me while I do other things, like dishes or make-up. It is not as good as narration but it's good for times when I can't hold a book. Hope you get to enjoy your reading more this week!
