BookBlogWalkers 12th December Check in.

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

In the past week I managed to fit in a walk most days.  I was doing a lot of walking at work so that meant shorter walks later in the afternoon.

I think I am on track to accomplish close to my goal in steps this week, although lawn mowing over the weekend might be harder exercise but cut the steps down a bit!  My week on fitbit goes from Monday to Sunday.

I hope everyone is accomplishing their goals - I know after the coming week, when I finish up at work that walking will become more of a focus again.

BookBlog Walkers 6th December Check in.

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

After my poor showing in November I am aiming to do a little better with December.  Now that all my reports for my students are written and end of year events are under way a little of the pressure is gone and I have some energy left for walking.

This week I managed 5 days of walking and two rest days.  I am on track to complete my steps I think on Fitbit for the past week, or if not very close.

BookBlogWalkers Check In 18th July

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

Five days of walking this week - Monday through Friday.  About 30 minutes each day.

The weather was colder than it has been so far this winter, but still walkable, only ended up wet and having to change when I arrived home on one day.

I am listening to Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews while I walk - totally enjoying it.

BlogWalker's Check in - 11th July

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

I am happy to say I had a much better week this week:

I walked 5 days - Monday to Friday for 30 minutes each day.  The weather was very conducive - sunny and quite warm for winter which was really very pleasant.

I started listening to a new audio book  A Man To Hold on To by Marilyn Pappano.

Hope everyone else had a great exercise week.

Book Blog Walkers. June 27th Check in.

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

It's hard to believe we are coming up to the end of June.  In the southern hemisphere we just passed the longest day, so now we look forward to a little more light each day.  So far we have had a very mild winter. I am not sure if that is good or bad!

This past week my exercise went like this:

Saturday: Much housework and window cleaning
Sunday: 30 minute walk
Monday 30 minute walk
Tuesday: rest day
Wednesday: 25 minute walk
Thursday: rest day
Friday: 30 minute walk

So happy to say that is 6 months of sustained exercise, and now eyeing up the next 6 months.  Still listening to the same book by Barbara Samuels, but should have that finished in the next week.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I  went into a book slow down this past week,  most days too tired to focus on a book, however I did finish one audiobook and went completely through another.  It is much easier to sit back and be read to when I'm tired.  Hopefully this week I will achieve a bit more book in the hand reading.
Four days of good walking at the beginning of the week and then I tapered off. Back on the road though already this week!

Books read:
Audiobook. Rosalyn Landor took this up to 4 stars for me.

Again narrated by Rosalyn Landor and a five star listen for me.

At present I am reading:
I am still reading The Beekeeper's Ball by Susan Wiggs.  At the 25% stage. Enjoying it but just haven't been reading.  Hopefully this week I will finish it.

I am about to start listening to the audiobook No Place Like Home by Barbara Samuel. Narrated by Kristine Thatcher.

Up next:
No River Too Wide by Emilie Richards.  #3 in her Goddess series.
Melting Into You by Tracey Alvarez  #2 in her Due South series.

You might ask what happened to Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh.  Well it didn't show up in the bookshops locally, so I have ordered it from the Book Depository. What do they say about a prophet in their own country!  Next time I will know better and order  earlier.  I could have got it straight away for my Kindle - but I tire of the Kindle and like an actual book, so decided to exercise patience and defer enjoyment!  I do expect Diana Gabaldon's book to show up here this week, she has a large following here in New Zealand so that shouldn't be a problem.

Book Blog Walkers Check in May 30th

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

Okay, winter is definitely beginning to make its presence felt with some cold winds and rain, however I managed to get in 5 days of walking.  I really need to have a tidy up and find my winter beanie because I gotta keep that cold wind out of my ears.

Saturday: 30 minutes
Sunday: 30 minutes
Monday: 30 minutes
Tuesday: Rest day
Wednesday: 30 minutes
Thursday: Rest day
Friday: 30 minutes.

As I walk I am now listening to The Duchess War by Courtney Milan.

Book Blog Walkers Check in. May 16

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

A low key week.  Lots of rainy weather with a couple of wintry sunny days with only a little wind.

Saturday: 30 minutes walk
Sunday:    30 minutes walk
Monday and Tuesday: rest days - heavy rain was not enticing.
Wednesday: 40 minute walk.
Thursday: 30 minute walk
Friday: 30 minute walk.

I am still listening to Material Girl by Julia London.  I generally only listen while walking, while
doing housework I just let my mind drift! Er.. I don't do much housework, especially when there is a book to be read!

Blogwalkers Check in. May 2nd

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

I had another good weather week for walking - and reading in the Autumn sun, holidays now ending so back to work next week.

Saturday: Rest day - can't remember why!
Sunday: 30 minutes walking
Monday: 30 minutes walking
Tuesday: 30 minutes walking
Wednesday: 30 minutes walking
Thursday: Rest day - had flu injection yesterday so just resting my body to give it a chance!
Friday: 30 minutes walking.

I finished listening to Virginia Kantra's Carolina Man, now I am listening to Julia London's Material Girl.  I am going to easily meet my listening challenge for 2014 because of the walking - double deal!

I am signed up to continue for the month of May. Into my 5th month and feeling good!

Book Blog Walkers Check in April 25th

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

We had quite a bit of wet weather, but I managed to dodge in and out between the showers for 5 days of walking.
  • Saturday - 30 minutes walk
  • Sunday - 30 minutes walk
  • Monday - 30 minutes walk
  • Tuesday - rest day
  • Wednesday - 30 minute walk
  • Thursday - 30 minute walk
  • Friday - rest day
While I have been walking I am listening to Carolina Man by Virginia Kantra.  It's third in a trilogy and is a pleasant, gentle listen.

Almost the end of April and I will have been walking for 4 months. The power of togetherness!

Book Blog Walkers Check In April 18th

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

I managed 5 days of walking which I was happy with.

  • Saturday: 25 minute walk
  • Sunday: 35 minute walk with friend along a track I wanted to walk - but too secluded for by myself.
  • Monday: 25 minute walk
  • Tuesday: rest day
  • Wednesday: 30  minute walk
  • Thursday: 65 minute walk - totally unplanned! Lost my car /school/house keys at work, so had to walk home in rain to pick up a spare car key.  Thank goodness for a spare set of house keys hidden outside!  Also while it was raining, cyclone Ita poured heaps of flooding rain on the country, but left our little part just nicely watered.  So I didn't get that wet!
  • Friday: rest day!
How about you?

Book Blog Walkers Check in. 11th April

Saturday: Rest
Sunday: 30 minute walk
Monday: 25 minute walk
Tuesday: Rest day
Wednesday 25 minute walk
Thursday 25 minute walk
Friday 25 minute walk.

I continue to listen to 11/22/63 by Stephen King.  At least I am up to Chapter 27, so the end is in sight!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

This week has been a balmy, sunny, windless Autumn week, totally gorgeous weather.  This week its about to turn, and wouldn't you know it we have some royal visitors this coming week to sample the not so good weather.  However I hope Prince William, his Duchess and Prince George enjoy NZ anyway.

Last week I managed 5 days walking, mostly 30 minutes, one a bit shorter - rather than not go at all! I am appreciative of Felicity at  Geeky Blogger's Book Blog for running this challenge as it keeps me motivated. The check in just adds the needed pressure!

This week I read:

Floored  Review

I will eventually read the whole Night Huntress series - I am not a huge paranormal fan, but that said I seem to read quite a few of them!  Floored by Ainslie Paton ( Australian author) entertained me with a romantic suspense.

I am reading:
Betting the Rainbow by Jodi Thomas.
I am about halfway through - I really like her Harmony small town series, many of the characters have their stories carried through many of the books, this one has some more about Reagan and Ronny, both characters I love.

Next up:
The Collector by Nora Roberts

Coming up on the blog:
My review of Four Friends by Robyn Carr - the 8th
Interview with Teresa Rizzo  -  14th.

Book Blog Walkers 21st March

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

I am content with my exercise this week.  I count it great that I am still going.

  • Saturday - walk 30 minutes
  • Sunday - walk 30 minutes
  • Monday - rest day
  • Tuesday - walk 30 minutes
  • Wednesday - walk 30 minutes
  • Thursday - gardening - veggie garden needs digging over and sowing of oats, lupin and mustard.  Still more to go, might replace one day a week of walking with gardening!
  • Friday - walk for 30 minutes.
It did cool down a few days, and that helped enormously.  We had one very hot and muggy day when we were top temperature in the country, I went walking about 9am and wondered why it was so hot!  30 degrees Centigrade I know isn't hot to the Aussie bloggers, but to me that is as hot as I tolerate!!

Book Blog Walkers Check In 14th March

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

  • Saturday - walk 30 minutes
  • Sunday - walk 30 minutes
  • Monday - walk 30 minutes
  • Tuesday - tiredness won - rest day.
  • Wednesday - walk 30 minutes
  • Thursday - needed another rest day!
  • Friday - walk for 30 minutes.
All the best to all book blog walkers for the coming week, especially the marathoners.

Book Blog Walkers 8th March Check In

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

So I had a reasonably good week. I managed 5 days out of the 7 for walking. I would have preferred 6, but one day I was tired and the other a late staff meeting.  However 5 is good!

I am usually out for about 30 minutes give or take a little.  Some days that feels like a long time!

So, looking forward to the coming week.  Upwards and onwards!

BookBlogWalkers Check in 28th February

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

And so February is ending and I am still walking.

Saturday 22nd:  Went to the races in a small country town - left Punter No. 1 to go into the races and I went for a 40 minute ramble in the surrounding country - very pleasant. I had no wins though!
Sunday 23rd:  30 minute walk on my usual route.
Monday 24th: 30 minute walk on my usual route.
Tuesday 25th: Rest day. (Had developed an eye infection which left me just a little off kilter, and interfered with my reading for a day or so!)
Wednesday 26th: 20 minute walk - from school to local district library and back with my class.
Thursday 27th: 30 minute walk usual route.
Friday 28th: 30 minute walk usual route.

So now we are looking at March. Ready to go. All the best to those preparing for marathons.

Blogwalkers Check In February 21st

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

I had a very good week this week.
6 days of walking, each about 30 minutes long
1 rest day on Wednesday - our staff meeting day, and it means a longer day.

I am hugely happy to be still walking, when I get home from work and its hot and humid, the fact that I am exercising with others just is that extra push I need.

Book Blog Walkers: Check in. 7th February.

This challenge is organised by Felicia over at the Geeky Blogger's Book Blog.

Well although I went back to work this week I managed to stay reasonably faithful to walking.

I walked five days for 30 minutes
One day walked for 30 minutes at the beach and had a swim - first of the season.  The water was very warm.  I only swim when I have company to pressure me!
One day I just didn't have the oomph!

So thanks Book Blog Walkers and I pledge to stay faithful for another week.  Hope you are all enjoying your exercise.

I am listening to  The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty while I walk.  It's quite a long audiobook so will take me awhile. I am up to about Chapter 22 and think there is about 50 something.
