It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
First Book of the Year
Sheila at Book Journey is again doing the First Book of the Year, it is a place to share with other reader/bloggers that first wonderful book choice of the year. I have really enjoyed it both years. If you haven't joined up yet - do consider it.Was a mixed week. Took me awhile to settle into reading. We had our hottest day so far and then a very wet and windy week. Besides that just a little reading jaded! Had one DNF and removed it from Goodreads. Into the bag for next year's Book Fair. Someone might enjoy! So grateful to J.D.Robb who can put the joy back in reading.
My iPod nano seemed to go on the blink - had it about 6 years, but that horrible Low Battery voice over as I was half way through my walk, sent me shopping for replacement. I am an Apple fanatic so only apples do! I got the 7th gen iPod nano and then had trouble getting the ear pods in. Google that I thought, only to find that my internet link was misbehaving. So contemplated a visit to shop next day, until resetting allowed me on to the internet again and of course Google gave me the answer - push it in really, really firmly!
What I read last week:
What I am reading at present:
Up next:
A Beautiful Lie. Diane Chamberlain (Originally published first as The Secret Life of Cee Cee Wilkes.)
Posts from the last week:
- Dear Carolina Kristy Woodson Harvey
- Sidekick Auralee Wallace
- West of Pecos Zane Grey
- Fitreaders Check In
I love my iPod too. I am on my third one and when the last one started repeating over and over, .I immediately went to the store and bought a new one and transferred all my books over. Loved Cee Cee Wilkes. Your last weeks reads of some of my favorite authors. Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteMy week was mixed too, reading- wise. As in, I didn't do much. :) Glad you got the iPod problem sorted out- sometimes they do us a favor by going on the fritz, cause then we need a new one!
ReplyDeleteA Zane Grey read! Interesting. I think I dabbled with his stuff when I was younger- or maybe it was L'Amour. I think we either had some Greys in the house, or my grandfather did. And the Seafront Tearooms- such nice art.
I'm with you on JD Robb Kathryn. I'm actually going to do some of that sort of reading at Christmas - comfort reads - that I don't have to review and that is just for me!!!
ReplyDeleteI had an old iPod Nano that I traded in a couple of years ago when I got a new iPhone. I still miss it sometimes especially when I go on vacation.
ReplyDeleteI hope to read The Seafront Tea Rooms someday. The Kristan Higgins book also looks good.
Not a bad innings from your iPod. Totally get where you're coming from, my iPod is up there with my fitbit lol, I'd be racing out to get one if mine was on the blink.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder, I always do Sheila's first book of the year and even though I'm thinking of taking a break from reviewing in January, I'll still do the fun stuff. You already know how much I love Kristan Higgins, her Blue Heron series is a priority for next year. Have a great week and happy reading :)
Anything For You looks good! I'm an Apple snob, too. :D
ReplyDeleteSheila's First Book event is so easy to participate in and SO much fun...looking forward to it already! I'm a total Apple fanatic, too :)
ReplyDeleteI need to read more of the J. D. Robb books...the cover of this new one is gorgeous. I hate trying to get new gadgets to work right...there is always a learning curve, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI used to read Zane Grey books....I loved them! I remember Riders of the Purple Sage...
I love the First Book of the Year, too, and already ordered my choice for 2016, a sequel to the one I had in 2015.
Enjoy the week!
Hmm Laurel-Rain now you have me intrigued as to what it might be!
DeleteSorry you ran into a DNF. I always like JD Robb too. I had really good reading. I have to think on my choice for First Book of the Year. Kristan Higgins is definitely on my 2016 reading list. I have a 2nd Gen Kindle that I love because it reads to me. I think it would be hard to replace.
ReplyDeleteI think my daughter wants IPOD for Christmas...
Hope your week is good!
Sorry to hear that you had a dnf book, I hate when that happens. But I am glad that J.D Robb book was great, always nice to have a good book after one you couldn't finished.
ReplyDeleteSheryl Woods book looks good. I got a few of her books at the thrift store this week. Not sure when I will read them but they look good and I remember from your blog that you like her books so I thought why not.
That poor ipod!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Everyone has the Seafront Tea Room except me! Looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI just use my iphone, I have an armband for it. Also, I just can't do earbuds at all. One of my ears must be oddly shaped. So I'm the crazy b%$^# wearing the huge iphone and noise-canceling headphones while working out. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't had too many DNF's lately. I had a few this summer.
ReplyDeleteI am excited about The First Book of the Year. :) Not sure what I am going to be reading just yet, though.
ENJOY the heat!!
Elizabeth
Silver's Reviews
My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Forgot....are you loving The Seafront Tearoom?
DeleteI LOVED the book.
My review and a giveaway are going live on my blog tomorrow, December 8.
How is it on audio?
THANKS.
Elizabeth
I've heard so many good things about The Seafront Tea Room. I need to add that one to my list. It's been a long time since I read a J.D. Robb book. This one looks good, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
All your technology on the fritz at the same time - UGH. That's annoying - hope this week is better for you.
ReplyDeleteI had a book that didn't work for me this week too. It is an ARC so I'll take it to school and see if any students want to read it. How did we answer those spur of the moment questions before Google? I totally depend on it. Here is what I did last week. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see that Sheila was still hosting First Book of the Year linky - I love participating and seeing what book everyone starts their year on. I feel like it's quite an important pick!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
Reading With Jade
Sorry about your nano. :( It's great having go to authors that can pull you right out of a slump.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a frustrating week with your audio "reading" but I'm glad you got it straightened out now. The Seafront Tearoom looks good to me and maybe the type of story I need right now. Enjoy your week, Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathryn, great line up. I loved Sarah Morgan's upcoming bundled with Susan Mallery. In fact Sarah brings my holiday blog bash to a close on the 18th with my review of Some Kind of Wonderful, an interview with the Fab Sarah Morgan and a giveaway sponsored by Harlequin too!
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm starting on my March reviews, shhh they're secrets :)
I'm so glad Sheila is once again hosting her 1st Read of the Year...I had just been thinking about that and then I saw her post...I love putting special thought into what my first read of the year will be and need to start thinking about what 2016's first read will be!!! I have Kristan Higgins' Anything For You coming up this week, too...I love her books, especially her Blue Heron series!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week :)
I have seen the Seafront Tea Rooms on so many blogs. I hope it's wonderful. Didn't recognize it at first because of the different cover for the audio.
ReplyDeleteThe Seafront Tea Room looks good. Nora Roberts is one of my favorites but for some reason I've never read any of her JD Robb books. I definitely need to give them a try. It's always a relief to go to a guaranteed good read after a not so much! So sorry about the nano but glad you're back up and running.
ReplyDeleteGood for you on treating yourself to a new iNano. I only have the smallest one since I don't need that much GB for my running playlist, but I love it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a nice variety of books going this week - I haven;t read any of them but glad you enjoyed them (mostly). And glad you got your iPod Nano straightened out! I always have an audiobook going on my iPod, not to mention dozens of book-related podcasts - I'd be lost without it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books this week -
Sue
Book By Book
Seafront Tea Room caught my eye - looks really lovely. Have a great reading week. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely an Apple enthusiast. Just got a new iPhone last weekend, and I couldn't live without it!!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of First Book, but I'm tempted to join in.
Never read a Sherryl Woods book - but think I'd probably enjoy them.
Looks like you have some great comfort reads this week. Enjoy your reading!
