It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

I didn't get much reading done this week as it has been a funny old week. We got the news that my sister in Rotorua ( about 5 and a bit hours drive north from where I live) that her brain tumour is progressing rapidly.  Still feels surreal. Two of my sisters and I and most likely a niece will travel up there Wednesday and come back Sunday. Two of my sisters are up there already ( yes I have six sisters), that leaves the one  still here. Not well enough to travel.

We will be doing some close living as it is a small house! Another brother lives an hour away from Rotorua in Tauranga  so we might we doing a sleep over there occasionally.

I tell you all this so that you know if I am not around that's where I am! Although I think there will be time for a little reading and internet.

What I read last week:

I finally reached on reading this one and now I can send it back to the library. I enjoyed it but possibly not as much as some of you. If you have read it you may know that the ending didn't quite sit well with me at present. But I do love books set in bookstores.

Very different to The Rosie Project books but funnily enough it is suited me very well.

  3. I'm so sorry to read about your sister. We just heard this morning that our daughter-in-law is having testing done after they removed a lump above her ear and found it malignant. I'll add your family to my prayer list.

I always find Karen Rose delivers a good romantic suspense. Hope you get to enjoy your reading even during your stresses.

  15. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. I hope you're able to enjoy your visit with her. I felt the same way about AJ Fikry. I found it a pleasant read but not much more than that and it definitely wasn't one that stuck with me. Have a great week!

  20. Oh, Kathryn, I am so very sorry to hear your sister's condition has worsened. We've experienced a lot of cancer in our family, so I understand how difficult these times can be - it's great that you have such a close family that can all come together at a time like this.

Oh, yes, I had forgotten about that part of AJ Fikry until you mentioned it. I did really love the novel, but when I got to the part you are talking about, my dad's melanoma had just moved into his brain, so I completely understand your reaction. I was enjoying the book SO much and then read that part and was crushed.

My thoughts are with you and your family - hope that your books can bring you a bit of comfort this week!
