Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading? While this meme is not fully active at present I will be linking up as well to the Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
On Saturday went by train to Wellington, caught the ferry across the harbour, had a delicious lunch, went for a walk up in the hilly bush and returned home. A wonderful way to spend a day in great company to celebrate another birthday flying by! Ouch!
Leaving from the city side of the harbour.
Across the other side, coming into the bay.
Bush walk up the hill.
I reached my goal and went over it this week. Walking on Saturday helped out. I also have now walked the length of New Zealand according to my Fitbit stats! Won't share how long that has taken!

ReplyDeleteI am reading Starlight at Willow Lake right now and really enjoying it. I will have to watch for your thoughts on it. This is my first book by this author but definitely won't be my last! It looks like you had a really great week in reading- I hope that this week goes just as well for you.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of walking, congrats!!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are beautiful, I have only been to Auckland as a transit passenger on my way to Brisbane many years ago but NZ looked beautiful what I saw of it (and it had really good duty free!!!)
Have a good week!
Such lovely pics :)
ReplyDeleteOh that's neat that it tells you lengths like that. And what pretty pictures. Glad yall had a good time!

ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! It sounds like you had a wonderful time AND did lots of walking which is great.
ReplyDeleteYou also had a big reading week. I feel bad I'm not attempting the Kate Forsyth as I know so many love her, but .....
I really liked The Beast's Garden, far more than I expected. However there are only so many hours to read so we can only read what interests.

ReplyDeleteThe pics are wonderful and congratulations on your fitness walking! Happy Birthday too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have some lovely summer reading going on. I have several Kristan Higgins I really want to read. I think I would like her writing.
BTW- I am lucky to read 6 of those Kindle downloads a year. I have way too many on my TBR but I keep collecting for retirement reading - someday. :-)
Have a great week!
Happy birthday! I love your pictures! Those updates on Fitbit always make me feel tired. Don't I deserve a break after walking the length of New Zealand? Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday Kathryn, lovely photos. I've really missed keeping up with your blog and goings-on but I'm hoping next week things will be back to a normal kind of crazy :) Way to go on the New Zealand badge, super cool to look at our walking in terms like that!
ReplyDeleteYou already know how much I liked The Beast's Garden, Bitter Greens still gets fave spot though lol. and Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale gives all WWII fiction a lot to measure up to. Can't wait to see what you think of The Patterson Girls!
Surprisingly The Beast's Garden just caught me and held me, while not as emotional as The Nightingale it was a very good novel. The Patterson Girls was okay -- 4 stars, might have been my mood but I didn't latch on to it quite as much as some of her others.
DeleteHope all is okay with you and only myriad things keeping your world busy.
