Sheila at Book Journey runs It's Monday! What Are You Reading? I believe it may be back this week.

Hope you all had a great week. I have been waging war on ANTS! They swarmed into the kitchen, possibly looking for water. I've tried lemon, vinegar, talc, cinnamon to rid myself of them. They dislike all these, but none of the afore mentioned worked fully. My kitchen looks like a war zone at night with it all sprinkled around. Time for stronger measures.

Doing some last minute planning for the end of the week as I am off to visit Melbourne, Australia for a week at the end of this week. Never been there so excited to get acquainted. Just a four hour flight away! Kindle loaded for the flight.

After angsting about buying a copy of Archangel's Enigma a week ago, I now have two copies as publisher sent one! Oops! Anyway a 5 star read.

A Window Opens was very good.
The Escape was #3 in a series and very enjoyable, Mary Balogh is an excellent writer as you'd expect.
Wild at Heart came of my TBR shelf and was a good 3 star read.  This month I have been reading a few of my own books which is great.

  1. I just saw a couple of Marie Force books in Walmart book section today and it reminded me that I had the very first one on my kindle from long ago. I assume this is the same series, with a MC in Washington DC? Off to do more research. I have read a couple of Cathy Lamb's books and liked them.

Enjoy your vacation! I'm so envious; it's on my bucket list :) Share photos, please.

  2. I had a problem with ants a few years ago- somehow they got in and got into the cat food. I sprayed quite a bit where I thought they were coming in, and it did the trick- but they can be a pain!

    Enjoy your trip to Melbourne!

  3. Oh... what takes you to Melbourne Kathryn? I hope it's a leisure-oriented trip. I don't know it too well but was last there about 3yrs ago!

I've seen a couple of people talk about The Secret Sister so keen to hear more about that one.

    1. Just a week's break! If I go to Australia I usually go in our winter and then swim on the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast, but this time going to sight see Melbourne. No swimming would be my guess!

  7. We had ants once, and when I found one in my bed I got mad and poisoned those bastards. POISON!!! They came from downstairs cos the neighbors garage was under our flat. So glad we moved

  10. Ants are so hard to get rid of. We had them a few years ago and ended up calling an exterminator. I hope you have a great time in Melbourne, you are quite the jet-setter!

  11. Ooh, I HATE ants...I put a lot of stuff in the fridge that wouldn't normally go there after battling them a lot over the years.

I loved A Window Opens...and Cathy Lamb books, so this one (Such a Pretty Face) is going on my list. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  12. Safe travels and good luck in your war against the ants!

I have A Window Opens for review so I'm glad to find out that you liked it. I am curious about the Mary Balogh book too as I've enjoyed some of hers in the past.

Have fun in Melbourne! I have family there but have never been either.

  14. I hate ants! We had a war with them a couple of years ago and finally had to resort to bug spray and even then it took awhile. We get a few every year still but not like the first time. Have an absolutely wonderful vacation and enjoy your new books! I have the Mary Balogh book and am looking forward to reading it. She's one of my favorites but I'm so behind on her books. Have a great week!

  15. I hate ants and they are a pain to get rid of. I hate having to use the ant sprays but we do use them as last resorts. My husband tries to find where they are coming in from and seals it with caulking. Good luck with your battle! I have to start Marie Force's Fatal series soon. I love her Gansett Island series. I hope you have a fun and safe trip!

  16. This is the second blog I've run across this afternoon with A Window Opens listed as one of this week's reads. Guess I ought to go read the blurb and see what it's all about.

Have a fun trip to Melbourne. I've only been to Sidney, and would love to see more of Australia.

  17. Have a great time in Melbourne, I've only been to Australia the once (have family in the Brisbane suburbs) but it is such a wonderful country, I really need to go back one day. Our flight is a bit longer, it took 28 hours that last time with many, many stops!

    Have a great week!

  19. Can't wait to hear about your Melbourne adventure but next time come back to the Gold or Sunny Coast and we'll catch up. Love the food choices in Lygon Street, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! We get ants when rain is pending but I've had success with peppermint oil diluted in spray bottle of water ... worth a try?

Next week I'm hoping to have a Cathy Lamb on my read list, I've got a little break from review books. Just have to decide which Cathy Lamb ... decisions, decisions. LOL on Archangel's Enigma. Hope you enjoy The Precious One as much as I did.

Have a fabulous week, I'm guessing you'll do lots of walking in Melbourne.

    1. Putting that street on a must visit! I've heard Melbourne is a good food place. I'm going to get some peppermint oil and try that.
It's good when review books are off the table and we get to hit a few books off our own TBR, I've liked some Cathy Lamb books more than others but all good. I was nervous about this one because Brandie only gave it 1 star! It was good though. I had bought it so I was going to read it.

  20. Tansy is the old remedy for ants. Desiccating powder and/diatomaceous earth work somet.

  22. Oooh, The Secret Sister. I've been wanting to read that one, can't wait to see what you think!

I hate ants, and we get them in our kitchen every summer. It's so frustrating, but we've learned to put big traps outside right when the weather changes to try to kill the buggers quickly. They freak me out. I hope you have success getting rid of them, because I know how awful they are!

    Have fun on your trip!!
