It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
Well not to much time or energy for walking this week, so have not even been looking at my steps. Instead I have been sweating it out washing down walls etc in readiness for painting this coming week. While I won't be doing the painting I will be helping out and at sixes and sevens as we move everything about. Should be good though when done.
Just kitchen, lounge and dining area. Walls colour was easy as want to carry through the light yellow I have but kitchen cabinets proving more difficult. Paint test pots and painted cardboard all around. Wanted violet but doesn't fit with rest of furnishing, so most likely a blue with violet tinge to it. To be considered!
So not sure how much time I will have for visiting/commenting but will see. Not sure how much reading I will achieve either!
What I read last week:
Reviews will be posted for both of these. The Expatriates was a serious read and Three Promises light reading to follow.
What I am reading at present:
Reading an Urban Fantasy book set in Scotland and New Zealand. Liking what I have read!
Still listening to:
Long book, but hooked by it.
Up next:
The Edge of Lost by Kristina McMorris
Sounds like you've been very busy! Good luck with everything and I hope you find time to read and relax too.
ReplyDeleteI really need to paint but it's just so much work! Good luck, and I hope you find some time to read.

I know what you mean about your painting project. We just had new carpet put in - what a job! Everything had to be up off the floor. On the plus side, I got my spring cleaning/organizing out of the way early. :-) I hope the painting goes well!
ReplyDeleteThat's a big job but will be so nice when done. A change like that is always nice. Glad your reads have been gone, I like the cover of the UF set in Scotland and NZ.
ReplyDeleteBig job! Who's Afraid looks good!
ReplyDeleteThree promises looks good! Love billionaire romances! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteThe prep work for painting is worse than the painting itself. Hope you share pictures!
ReplyDeleteWhose Afraid looks really good. Have a good week and Happy Painting!
ReplyDeleteI love to redecorate my place and my walls need a good paint job too. Hope you like the end result of your kitchen cabinets. You read some good books last week. I want to read The Expatriates.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've got your work cut out for you this week... good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your painting! I absolutely hate painting walls and even the smell of it but of course the end results make it worthwhile, so hope yours comes out great!
ReplyDeleteI have had The Expatriates on my radar and haven't read any blogger reviews about it, so I hope you share your thoughts.
Oh, you're painting kitchen cabinets? Let me know how that goes. I need a serious kitchen renovation but the budget is limited. We're discussing whether we have the patience to paint the cabinets ourselves! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOh, have fun painting....I always like what new colors and freshening up can do for the mood. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing The Expatriates....enjoy your reading, too.
Am keen to hear what you think of The Expatriates Kathryn. It's in my pile but I've been avoiding it... just not sure it's for me.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!
ReplyDeleteAll the preparations you've been doing for the paining sure sound like a good workout to me. I hope that it turns out great.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
The Expatriates looks good - was browsing it today.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the painting, hope it and the paint smell goes fast!
Big week for you, take some before and after photos. I've been considering getting someone to paint the kitchen cabinets but I wasn't sure whether painting laminate cupboards would give a good, lasting finish? Glad you're enjoying No Child of Mine, looking forward to your reviews this week.
ReplyDeleteChoosing paint is a nightmare! Good luck with the painting and I hope you get to squeeze in some reading time.
ReplyDeleteGood luck this week! Painting is my least favorite home improvement thing to do. It's such a pain in the tush. I hope it goes quickly and smoothly for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to your reviews. Those books look good. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your books this week! :)
ReplyDeleteUrban Fantasy is new to me - I've not heard much about the genre, but me and fantasy don't really go hand in hand anyway so I haven't really delved in to sub genres and such. I hope you enjoy your read!
ReplyDeleteI hope the painting goes well - it can be quite a tedious home improvement task. The colour scheme sounds lovely.
Reading With Jade
Oooh, new paint! I love how paint makes everything feel new again.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your painting project, Kathryn; I'm sure it's going to look lovely when it's all complete! I've added The Expatriates to my reading list (even though it's getting really long now - ha!) and I'm looking forward to hearing what you think. Thanks so much for hosting the link up and I hope you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the painting! it's so much fun to add new paint! Have a great week Kathryn.
ReplyDeleteI am always looking for a captivating audiobook. I'll have to check out No Child of Mine. And I have The Edge of Lost on my TBR pile. Have fun with your remodeling. And happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI love painting! We're getting ready to paint my daughter's room (from a lilac color to a light gray), and then our hallway (sage green to a ??).
ReplyDeleteKathryn, good luck with the painting. I'm planning that this coming spring and I will be doing the painting too! Great Monday reading choices. Right now I'm finishing up my April contract reviews with Harry Turtledove's upcoming Fantasy/Alternate History, The House of Daniel. Look for my review in a magazine near you! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like some good reading last week. Good luck with your painting projects! We have a lot of painting we need to do around here. Maybe your project will inspire me to finally get it started!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books this week -
Sue

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
I like the looks of your paranormal book. Added that. How fun to contemplate paint colors. I spent hours on Sherwin-Williams before we started painting rooms in our house. We started w/the girls' rooms as they knew what they had wanted. The tween has teal and the baby has two shades of pink separated by chair rail. Our room is a meditative blue while the office is a darker blue. Our living room is shades of grey. The fireplace wall is a darker grey as I had read online how grey goes well with old, traditional brick. We have a cayenne pepper red wall for the husband. I hope to paint our kitchen a robin's egg blue as I have a red, Kitchen Aid. The hallway and entryway will be lighter shades of grey and the bathrooms a spa green.
ReplyDeleteI don't love all the prep work that goes into to getting ready to paint but I love the results! We're about to paint the master bathroom - after we wash down the walls and repaint the trim of course. I'm not very patient! I want it done now! Enjoy your reads!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Heartless on audio, The 5th Wave (finally!) in print, and Bleeding Violets on my Kindle app. I did finish Girl Waits With Gun this weekend though, so that made me feel like I accomplished something.
